I'm not a X's and O's guy, just a huge fan of college football

This is a layman's observation.

Isn't recruiting highly rated brutes on the OLine (like Mario is going) but with world class speed at WR and RB and at least semi-mobile QB's the keys to success?

Watching the games yesterday, and even those between highly rated teams with the top defenses in the country during the regular season are getting destroyed.

The cornerback position seems unteachable to 99% of college CB's with a flag thrown on every other pass play. Its almost as if you can pass every play and PI calls will drive great offenses down the field.

Mobile QB's are neutralizing the pass rush and blitzes by dodging pressure.

Maximum spread of routes are making coverage near impossible.

Even a guy like McClain, is he as important to recruit as a wide open offense with world class pass and run blockers and speed everywhere?

The mobile qb & high caliber WR's are definitely becoming more of a necessity to win big. And the rules are making it **** near impossible for a DB to affect the game in their favor with flags almost always going to the WR but I can't discount the trenches. All the playoff teams have been strong inside. We're off to a great start rebuilding our trenches so far. But gonna take longer to get our bearings at WR & the secondary to be on par with the elite teams.

Getting to the qb is still paramount.
But uga was gassed trying to get to stroud.
Imo extending the play and being able to improvise if the play breaks down has saved a lot inferior teams and even good ones.
idk why anyone recruits statues anymore

Mahomes
Dabo with Watson,
Saban with his adoption of dual threats
UNC with Howell and now the new dude
Fields at osu and even Chicago
Stroud this year
Norvell with that midget running all over the place and throwing on the run.
Tennessee as well

If Jacurri is able to throw like any of those dudes we will be sniffing the playoffs

But qb’s that can run but can’t throw are a liability just as much as the statues.

We dont run an offense that maximizes or makes it easy for that type of talent..

Fast, athletic middle linebacker is critical for stopping mobile qbs who can scramble. As we saw this year though, not having corners and lb play is no bueno

Are you suggesting we just give up on D since top offenses are so good?

You still have to try to limit the opponent’s scoring.
