We already knew the following...
1. The absence of De’Anthony Melton continued Tuesday night against Princeton, as USC withheld the sophomore guard for a 10th consecutive game. Melton has not played this season as the university investigates his eligibility. Federal prosecutors have accused a family friend of accepting $5,000 in order to steer Melton toward an agent and sports marketer, a potential violation of NCAA amateurism rules.
2. Point guard Derryck Thornton, a touted Duke transfer, missed his fifth straight game because of a shoulder injury.

Then, there was this against Princeton.
Bennie Boatwright and Jonah Mathews have fallen out of the lineup recently as well.
1. Boatwright, who was held out of Sunday’s win over UC Santa Barbara because of a wart on his foot, was sidelined again. The junior forward is the team’s leading scorer.
2. Mathews, a sophomore who had started in place of Melton this season, sprained his right ankle in the final minutes against the Gauchos and wore a walking boot Tuesday. A team spokesman said Mathews was day to day.

All three players could return by the end of the month, including Boatwright and Mathews for the Diamond Head Classic, the holiday tournament in Hawaii this weekend.
But when Melton could return to the lineup is unclear.
USC administrators have not revealed a timetable for when he could play. A school statement when the season began said it was holding Melton out as a “precaution.”
