I looked back at last year and some of the guys was faster, quicker etc. They have put to much weight on.

Porter was more explosive at 312 but they got him up to 325-330 and asking him to 2 gap. Pierre showed flashes in the 4-3 last but nothing this year as they are asked not to make plays.

Chick was never the most athletic but was quicker before all this weight. He should be 260-265. Armbrister is not good but he was 212 last year and was faster now he is 234.

Perryman was around 220 last year and was much quicker. He is 242 now when he is only 5'11-6'0 he should be 230. Jenkins looks slower this year too. Kirby when he played last year looked more explosive than this year.

That is a sign of bad coaching. They have made those guys add to much weight to try and force them in a scheme when they are supposed to adjust to the players.

We definitely traded strength and power for explosiveness with this year's Utough program. Earlier in the year we saw the benefits of the added strength with our open field tackling. Now, as the season has progressed I think our D is just worn down.

More examples of how this staff is trying to make the players fit into their scheme instead of adjusting to the players...basically their taking speedy and aggressive athletes and bulking them up and saying now let's play Big 10 defense where we sit and react.....

Watching our defense consistently outrun to the corner is depressing....at least we had speed in the past...now we don't even have that. I'm pretty sure I could outrun Jimmy Gaines...that's not hyperbole

We had Greg Mark and other white LBs who never got outrun to the corner. Those guys were anything but fast.

Give me an example of someone who gained too much weight and lost his athleticism. Not calling you out, just saying i wanna see those players.

****ed like everyone else, but I think you are reaching on this one! Some players may been just a little too big, but to blame the coaches for them being slow is lazy. I believe D'nofrio should be fired in the morning, but some of the front seven players are backups on many other teams.

This year, Porter hasn't flashed any of what he had at least previously flashed. I don't know if it's an athleticism issue, but it's just odd that he somehow looks worse.

Chick and Perryman to state the obvious...but look at the teams weights from last year to this year.

I don't think Chick was ever athletic. I think he needed the extra weight because he was never a quick guy.

Denzel may have sacrificed some speed at the expense of becoming bigger, but he was quoted saying he feels like a bowling ball because he got bigger without losing speed... so it's arguable if he even did. He may just be gased because we have no depth. If you pay attention to him throughout the games you'll find him tapping his helmet to come off and we keep him in.
