Postseason ban

I hate you.

That **** hasn't left my mind since the start of the year. Possibly the best UM hoops team in a decade and this is hanging over our heads...

That said, considering the timetable for penalties doesn't have them being announced until April or May (at the earliest), we should be kosher....besides, with us losing just about everyone off the team but Barry Larkin's kid, and with 'Cuse, Pitt, and Louisville joining the conference soon, the postseason might be a pipe dream for awhile after this year.

I doubt that anything happens to the basketball team, but if we were to get a postseason ban, it would be for next year, as the NCAA infractions process would not be complete until well after the season.

As a side note, it really takes a lot for a basketball team to get a postseason ban. Baylor self-imposed one in their 2003 scandal where Coach Dave Bliss, amongst other things, attempted to portray his player who got murdered as a drug dealer to cover up Bliss's own NCAA violations. UCF was recently hit with one, but that involved not just using an agent to steer recruits to the basketball and football teams, but the athletic director lying to NCAA investigators about it. Texas Southern also got one for this year, but that was for exceeding scholarship limits, knowingly playing ineligible players, being a repeat offender, and lying to the NCAA about self-imposed punishments from their previous infractions (ouch!). In all of these cases, those responsible for the violations were still at the school. It wouldn't surprise me to see the NCAA take a scholie or two away from us and to institute some recruiting restrictions, but I highly doubt we get hit with any kind of ban. That said, the NCAA is far from predictable...

I don't think it is automatic we get a ban...

1. The coaches are gone,

2. The players (DQJ) are gone,

3. The DQJ stuff couldn't be proven and he was reinstated.

I don't think we get a post-season basketball ban but maybe 1-2 scholarships gone MAYBE.

If we were, it would be for next year. We won't know the punishments until after the NCAA Tourney, and I can't see us self imposing since we're not going to be good again for a couple of years.

I think we are getting a ban just based off of all of the suspensions last year and whatever other bull**** Haith pulled when he was here.

If we do, as stated above, it will be for the 2013-2014 season, since they won't hand down the punishment until after this season is over.

You can thank Shalala. NO other President who had their hands in and micromanaged the hiring of bafoons like Haith and Perry would have a job seconds after the facts came out. **** her and her sickening, Obama slurping fans.

Blaming Shalala for that is one of the dumber things I've read on here

Far from the truth, she needs to take the blame for a lot of the mediocrocy that has become UM athletics.

She did not hand select either Clark or Haith, but whatever, I guess people will never forgive her for being a ******* and a liberal, so carry on, I'm not spending any more time on this ridiculous argument.

Yeah I'd agree 100%. Would be interesting to hear people further elaborate why it is her fault.

It's simple, her complete focus is making this a top academic institution which she has done a very good job of but at the detriment of the Sports teams.

First, thats nit true, but, anyway, She does not head the athletic department, the AD does. It is the UNIVERSITY of Miami, and she is president of the entire university, not the athletic department.

Check the ORG chart at the UNIVERSITY of Miami, untimely she's responsible.
