Pumped about the win. Crawford is the man. 30+ carries, holy ****.

1) Is D'Onofrio afraid to play man? I don't get it.

2) AJ Highsmith, unfortunately, is a liability out there. Takes bad angles, doesn't tackle well, etc. We still aren't there yet talent-wise. Maybe '14 or '15

3) I like Coley's play-calling at times (his ability to stick with the run, etc) but we seem to be easy to scheme against. We run a lot of the same routes over and over and over again. Either all of our guys run corner & out routes, or Morris is not comfortable throwing over the field. Hard to say because Ryan William, in limited time, seemed to open up the middle of the field. Also hard to say because camera angles on TV don't really allow you to see route combos. Maybe guys at the game could speak to this. Do we use the middle of field?

4) Golden manages games like a G. Not sure I've ever really disagreed with how he's called the end of a half/game.

5) UTOUGH is 3-0 (UF, GT, UNC). We are back to pounding the rock in the 4th quarter with ease. Love it.

6) I hope we go after more punt blocks. Setting up the return just seems useless this year. Not sure if it's scheme or what. But let's get more aggressive.

7) We're missing Jedd Fisch as a QBs coach. I'm really hoping we can bring in a Dorsey type to be QB coach & get Coley up in the booth.

8) Tyriq McCord needs to be on the field more. This was the type of team he should've played 30 snaps against. (**** maybe he did)

9) Perryman is a 1st round lock & the Duke Johnson of the defense. When he goes out it becomes noticeable. I start asking, "where's Denzel?!"

10) Howard is a beast in coverage. Wish we'd play more man to man though. Gunter and Jenkins again look lost in zone on the one TD.

11) Seantrel Henderson looks like a baby on the sideline. If I had to guess I'd bet he doesn't have a lot of friends on the team. Still doesn't seem to be a team player.

12) Rayshawn Jenkins made some HUGE tackles in 4th quarter.

13) How did Duke get caught?

We're almost there. A year or two to go & we'll be back.

good post. only thing ill say is that williams looked good in his limited time but that was against some bad teams (USF, FAU, SSU). next years qb battle will be interesting as williams has improved greatly though.

It's now a one game season IMO (FSU would be fun to beat, but we have to think about VT)

VT will gameplan on Morris doing a Jacory impersonation from the start and tossing 3-5 INTs early. Williams needs to be ready!

They have to get Morris to concentrate on stepping into his throws. He kept backpedaling and the first thing I thought of was Jacory 2.0. This OL is not built for stretch running plays. When Coley got away from those, everything opened up.

I don't understand why Morris doesn't go to Walford more. Worst case, it's like a long running play. He always gets positive yards and he's a mismatch, like any good TE is.

Agreed with all points. And want to add that either Morris or JColey or both need to discover the middle of the field. Walford (definitely) and Sandland (I believe) should be able to make us so much harder to defend if we do that.

I guess my biggest concern is our lack of use of the TE. Morris seemed to have his best stretch last year when Walford had his best stretch.

McDermott is getting owned at center. Wheeler is bigger and nastier. Henderson at RT is not all there. Feliciano at RT and Bunch at LG would make our OL stronger.

You forgot one more :
Green is MIA, yet getting lots of tackles after 5 yards. Where is the slurpie fest with him now? ***** is a liability out there,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
, These mofos of announcers constantly kept saying these ENDs have no rush... Put McCord in more plays dam it! Green is a cane, but it is time for this senority **** to stop. This is not the country club!
Bush doesnt seem playing with confidence, but i will take my chance with him over a safety as oppossed to another safety that is running a 4.9-in highsmith.

To be fair, Duke got hawk down by another south florida prospect (J. Price).[/Q

You are kidding ....!!! Pllleeeeeaasssseeeeee!!! Duke had a 5 yard start for crying out loud. I started the post after Savannah st about Duke's explosion and everybody in here started crying.. Listen, i love Duke, he is the face of this program, but be honest, he has lost his burst! Look back at his Highlights from last year, he was quicker and more fluid.. Before you guys get all worked up for what im saying, he has nasty vision and cutting ability, But i miss DUKE from last year period!

1) not sure we were watching the same game on this one. We ran plenty of man coverage. didn't you see our linebackers running into each other? Didnt you see Deon Bush get burned in man coverage? What about Reshawn Jenkins getting burned on the recording setting catch for UNC?

OP saw the game clearly. Good points throughout!

The D did much better in 2nd half, no TD's on 6 possessions. A goal line stand that ended with a field goal after Morris Interception on the Miami 20! And Three, 3 and outs for NC in the 4th qtr. (one drive started at the Mia49 after Morris's 4th Int and the other at the NC40).

I thought he looked a little sluggish from week 1 as well. dont know what it is.

Reason and logic doesn't work. He cries about the scheme every week.

Last year that's a touchdown for Duke...Duke is now 20 pounds heavier, lost a little speed with the added weight.

The Good:
Dallas Crawford. That was an epic performance. Dude stepped up when we needed it most. He needs to be the red zone/short yardage back moving forward.

The Bad:
Defense. Where was the pass rush all night? And while I realize we sustained multiple injuries to our secondary, why were their receivers so wide open? We made Renner look like Joe Montana.
O-line (for the first 55 minutes). Stuffed once again on first and goal from inside the one. Struggle to pass protect when the defense disguises a blitz. These guys are too big and too experienced to play this inconsistent against a lousy d-line. Props for manning up on that last drive though.

The Ugly:
Morris. He single handedly nearly cost us the game with that performance last night. Most QBs at this level miss receivers by a few inches when they are off. Morris misses by yards. Multiple yards. His footwork is lazy, he makes awful decisions, and he flees the pocket at the first sign of trouble. It's called a "pocket" for a reason. It protects you. Step into it and dump the ball off to your safety valve when you feel pressure from the ends or at worst take a one yard loss rather than a 10 yard loss or INT because you are throwing across your body into double coverage. I'm no longer expecting Morris to miraculously "pull it all together". He is what he is. His arm strength will tease us with spectacular throws a few times a game but we'll always be one play away from disaster as long as he is our QB.

At the end of the day it was an ugly win with few bright spots but I prefer that scenario to a loss any day.

This is the answer to the bad pass coverage. We had some break downs in the zone at times. Hopefully we get them ironed out. The answer to what UNC was doing last night was not (more man coverage) which is what a bunch of morons on this board keep parroting. We had a **** poor pass rush last night. When that happens, coverage will eventually break down. When we blitzed we didn't get there and when that happens you're going to be in trouble. I thought the D played admirably in tough spots last night.
