Possible transfers (and/or cuts)??

We’ve already sees Bunche walk away from a wonderful opportunity, by focusing on 2013 (lack of P/T), instead of seeing green grass in front of him in 2014, by transferring.

So in the spirit of this time of year, as the staff tries to figure out its scholly numbers, one has to wonder how Al will make it work.

And to make it work, history tells us, some guys may be shaking in their boots right about now. I beleive Al said we need to get to 82 scholarships, so who are those guys that may get trimmed and/or given the cold shoulder, to be forced into leaving??

Possibles:

David Perry - No idea how he’s lasted this long.
D’Mauri Jones - Still holding out hope for this guy, but if he doesn’t contribute, maybe there’s a reason.
Corey King - Awesome bench press numbers, but boasts poor squat on the field.
Dwayne Hoilett - Never saw it in him to begin with (low-light tape).
Larry Hope – May only make it due to depth concerns.
Gary Crow – Bottom of the depth chart, chop it up and look for another QB in next years #’s.

Of this list, who’s most likely to stay, and who gets the tap on the shoulder? Anyone else needed to be added to this list, to make room for a waiver wire additions?? Or do we think Al will simply sign around the current roster with no cuts???

Your thoughts….

I think the guys you listed are definitely on the hot seat.

Guys who need to perform ASAP or could also be on the hot seat:

O'Donnel - 3rd year
Hamilton - 3rd year
Moore - 3rd year
Dortch - 3rd year
Wells - 3rd or 4th year
Blue - 3rd year

We need bodies at DT. I think Corey is safe.

Other than that, from a NFL/playing time standpoint, it would be in the players best interest to seek an opportunity elsewhere. From an education standpoint, its in their best interest to stay at Miami. They have tough choice to make.

By the way, Bunche made the right choice. His draft stock will only go up playing tackle at UCLA. No way he should be playing guard.

Lock this thread meng. All these kids are um players and if they transfer we will know. Why would you speculate on this?

I like carrying 4 quarterbacks plus any walk-on. the 5th string scholarship quarterback has no real future with the team at quarterback. I would be looking to get on the field at any position I could if I were in that position.

Fair discussion always turns negative and disrespectful to the players.

Understand where you're coming from, but nothing disrespectful coming from my end.

It's a tough sport to play on a high level, and the reality is that UM is a premier school. So just becuse a kid doesn't make it here, doesn't mean other schools wouldn't roll out the red carpet for our guys... They'll still have an opportunity to get their degree, and all ends well.

This is a football conversation, just like anything else; nothing more than Roster Managment talk. Happens everyday on this board.

Gee, maybe because this is a Miami Hurricanes football forum, where the Miami Hurricanes football team/program is discussed.

Don't mean to be ****y, but no reason to speculate on kids who might be on their way out of the program. Serves no productive purpose. We know who they probably are and the coaches will work through this. Happens every year - here and at every other program.

As of right now Crow wouldnt be needed as well as Holliet, and obviously Perry. Holliet just because we are actually stacked at the Jack position he would play. The others like Hope, Jones and King dont belong on our roster but we still need them because of depth issues. We are still a trainwreck at DT, we may need Hope to slide over to safety where we are thin, or if not Hope, maybe Artie goes over there and then Hope might be needed for depth at CB. We saw how fast injuries can pile up at WR a position we thought we are all set at in 2012.....

I agree on these 3

David Perry - No idea how he’s lasted this long. (He should have played with his brother at FIU/FAU)
D’Mauri Jones - Still holding out hope for this guy, but if he doesn’t contribute, maybe there’s a reason. (I saw him in one game made me really question Al's evals..)
Corey King - Awesome bench press numbers, but boasts poor squat on the field. (Seriously should have never had a scholly)

I can't see this happening...I actually think they will be in the rotation this year
Dwayne Hoilett - Never saw it in him to begin with (low-light tape).
Larry Hope – May only make it due to depth concerns.

If and that is a HUGE IF Treon comes he is gone..but i think he sticks one more year...and then next year he is out...if we get a good QB
Gary Crow – Bottom of the depth chart, chop it up and look for another QB in next years #’s.

RS SOs are on the "hot seat"?

Okay.

I don't agree with "on the hot seat" but it is a popular position for transfers. You gotta realize if they try to transfer to another D1 school, they have to sit a year and have already used their redshirt. They would sit this year allowing them two years at their transfer school. It's not a great situation but it does happen a fair amount at this point in a player's career
