I spent some time talking to Hahnville people and supposed "family." Not sure the exact story - but some coach who went to Kansas is bitter with someone at LSU and has been extremely thorough in evaluating Louisiana and offering early. I was wondering why so many of Louisiana's top players had committed to Kansas so early. And Kansas offered Pooka well before anyone else. Then LSU and Miami offered (that was news to me - kudos to our staff). Then Saban offered along with everyone else in the country. Coach Salt, who has plenty of experience with talent, said Saban has calls him more about Pook than any player he has ever coached.
Obviously LSU has an advantage. And Saban usually get what he wants. But the kid is definitely interested in Miami. He will be more utilized in Miami's offense than Alabama's. Now, he definitely fits nicely in LSU OC Canada's offense, but I would not expect to see Canada at LSU for that long. Him and Orgeron are just not on the same page and he is not a great fit for the SEC West.
I think we have a shot at Pooka. Despite, Saban drooling over him, Bama bagmen have a history of going after defense and OL, not scatbacks. LSU money seems to be holding tight to see what happens with Canada, Orgeron, and AD Alleva.
One thing to be taken from this is there is a lot of talent in Louisiana that goes unnoticed, even by LSU. I wish Miami would have someone on top of it like the vengeful guy from Kansas
