I saw a post on the board earlier today referring to Cleveland Reed’s tweet to FSU HC Willie Taggart and I’m here to tell you Reed is 1000% committed to Miami. Taggart has had a connection with the family for years now dating back to when his cousins were being recruited by Taggart. One source told me that Taggart is a good friend of the family and he has tried to recruit Reed to both USF and Oregon. Miami OL coach Stacy Searles visited Reed and his family yesterday and I've been told that the visit went very well. Reed is expected to take a visit to North Carolina in January, but I have been told that Reed could potentially shut everything down and sign early with Miami after next weeks official visit.

Miami QB coach visited 2019 Sheldon (OR) QB Michael Johnson at his high school on Monday and I was told the visit went very well. Johnson has had his name linked to Oregon because his father is a coach on the staff, but I spoke to one source who told me that he wouldn’t be surprised if Johnson were to end up at Miami. It will be interesting to see if Johnson stays in Oregon after Willie Taggart became the head coach at FSU.

Miami is expected to take one to two DB's in 2019 and Miami’s top target is South Dade DB Tyrique Stevenson who just de-committed from Florida. The number right now is set for one defensive back in 2019, but with the amount of talent in the area next cycle, I don’t know if Miami can stay true to taking one defensive back next cycle. This week alone the coaches have visited FSU commit Akeem Dent, Tennessee commit Te’Cory Couch, STA CB’s Jaden Davis and Jordan Battle, Wellington ATH Mark Richards, and 5-star ATH Josh Sanguinetti

Miami stopped by Carver HS today to see 2020 RB Joaquvious Marks who is very interested in Miami, I’ve been told that a visit is being set up in the spring for him to visit the campus and that Miami sits in a good spot with him. Miami also remains in a very good spot for 2020 Belen Jesuit RB Don Chaney Jr.

1000% commitments are never broken. Unless there is 120% chance of a flip. Or something. Wut?

I'll be SHOCKED if we take only 1-2 DBs next year.

Thanks for the info

Why would they only take 2 DB's?

Miami has 5 DB's committed including Josh Jobe. Miami is looking to add potentially Pat Surtain Jr and Tyson Campbell if Jobe sticks. If he de-commits Miami could after a guy like Asante Samuel Jr. Regardless looks like Miami wants to bring in 6-7 DB's in 2018

How does Reed feel about the Dan Mullen hire?

Yeah me too. Would be a step toward the terrible golden logic of once every three years let’s stock a position rather than stack chips every year across the board.

Lots of good news here.

1-2 DBs for '19 sounds a bit light.

And another player from Georgia who has a lot of interest in Miami.

You guys are wrong. Can’t take 5-6 this year and 4-5 next year and have that many ships committed to dbs. It’s not golden like. You guys are morons.

Even if we land 4 cbs in 2018, we'll only have 6 cbs in 2019 with only bandy and malek young as upperclassmen. You could easily have 1-2 cbs alone and still not overload that position.

Our safety depth in 2019 would be Derrick Smith and Carter and maybe Finley if he's still around plus 2-3 kids from 2018. That easily leaves room for 1-2 safeties in 2019 without overloading the roster.

And this is not counting the normal attrition that happens due to injuries and other events.

Even with 1-2 next year, we'd have 8-9 underclassman DB's with a couple redshirting next year probably. That is a lot. We only have 85 total ships to hand out.....

Erick isn't a math guy but I appreciate the info! Any more Columbus specials coming our way?
