Phidarian Mathis 2017 3* SDE/DT As a Miami prospect from Neville, LA is a 6'4" 290lbs wrecking machine, with a high motor. Lets put it this way when was the last time you saw a 300lbs linemen on kickoff coverage that out runs the **** gunner. He needs a Miami offer TODAY!!!! Coach Kool and Coach Banda should take turns working on this kid until he commits to Miami.

In Miami's 4-3 front Mathis is a 3Tech all day that will live in the back field, but also be stout enough to destroy a running play on the way to the quarterback.

Coach Kool could make this young man a Top 10 pick in a few years.

Four-star DL Phidarian Mathis talks USC offer | Myinforms

Four-star DL Phidarian Mathis talks USC offer
Phidarian Mathis talks about receiving an offer from USC defensive line coach Kenechi Udeze and possibly attending camp with the Trojans this…

Four-star Monroe (La.) Neville defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis had to first recruit USC before the Trojans returned the favor.

“Well, I sent them my film on Twitter a lot,” Mathis said.

From there, USC defensive line coach Kenechi Udeze sent him a Direct Message on the social media platform and began building a relationship with Mathis.

“He started talking to me about how great I am. He gave me an offer and all,” Mathis said. “It was really great. It was big. It probably made a lot of movements for me and got me out there a little bit more.”

Phidarian Mathis, Neville HS DT - Scout

The 6-foot-4, 287-pound Mathis said Udeze is very positive and seems to really like Mathis’ ability.

“I like his personality and how he talks to me, how he says he loves me. He loves the way I play. He’s just told me some great things. He always tells me to stay confident in myself.”

Mathis thinks he has the potential to be a great player, but he knows he is still a work in progress on the gridiron.

I’m not really that person yet. There’s a lot of things I haven’t learned yet. I’m not great yet. I’ve got a lot of work to do.”

With his combination of size and continuous effort, Mathis was one of the top five defensive linemen at The Opening New Orleans Regional. He displayed a quick burst and a developing spin move that could become a real weapon at the next level …

Seems like a great prospect with a great attitude and work ethic. Have we offered?

Not yet, hopefully UM will offer Mathis. Last year his teammate 2016 5* DT Rashard Lawrence signed with LSU and now in Mathis's ear about playing together again at LSU. The good thing is LSU has other DT's\DE's higher on their board hence them just offering Mathis so hopefully their spots fill up and Miami offers him. According to article I read Travonte Valentine is close to returning to LSU from JUCO which take away a spot LSU could hVe used for their 2017 c!***.

Paranos,

Nice find. Thanks.

I also liked the work of OL recruit Nick Brahms against your boy. We have offered him. Would love to land them both.

I agree landing them both would be ideal, along with flipping 2017 LT Alex Leatherwood.

Flipping Leatherwood would be epic but right now that seems like a pipe dream. If this staff can actually flip Leatherwood, Richt would be the GOAT.

An interesting tidbit about 2017 DE\DT Phidarian Mathis is that ESPN rates him as the #1 new prospect to the ESPN 300 top newcomers list.

Breakdown: You likely won't know his name or even graduating class for that matter, but Mathis won't be a secret for long. He has reclassified as a 2017 prospect after being in the 2018 class prior to this spring. He is very talented, and now that he has been identified, the process is going to be rapidly accelerated for this talented young man..

Sentell’s Intel: Nation’s No. 1 athlete Jacoby Stevens now has Georgia and four other SEC teams on his mind

ATHENS, Ga. — The race to secure the commitment of Jacoby Stevens should be intense over the next 15-20 days.

The nation’s No. 1 athlete will make his decision later this month or in early August. Stevens told DawgNation earlier this year Georgia led and that no other schools were gaining ground in that race.........

The defensive tackle spot in this year’s class

Don’t look for the defensive tackle position to weigh heavily in the Class of 2017. The Bulldogs just signed three big-time defensive tackles in 2016 and I wouldn’t be surprised to see defensive end David Marshall move inside from time-to-time during his career at Georgia. That’s why I can see the Bulldogs signing just one defensive tackle this year.

Lee County senior Aubrey Solomon was the primary target, but he definitely seems to be entrenched with Michigan. That commitment sounds very solid. Tyrone Truesdell of Laney High in Augusta was a popular name this spring, but that attention seems to have cooled off.

Mathis is rated as the nation's No. 14 defensive tackle for the Class of 2017. (Jeff Sentell / AJC)
Keep the name Phidarian Mathis in mind. The 4-star defensive tackle from Louisiana was at the Kirby Smart Camp on Saturday and drew a lot of attention. Line coach Tracy Rocker watched him closely in drills and Mathis moved pretty well for a big man. Mathis is pretty raw. His trip to Athens was his first actual camp on any college campus. He also won’t be that tough to pry away from L
SU.

He hails from a part of that state some might consider to be Southern Arkansas as much as anything else. LSU doesn’t hit that area as hard and almost expects prospects from that region to come to them. Mathis has an offer from Georgia, but his recruitment is just getting started.

Let’s keep in mind he chose Georgia as his first camp. That might go a long way. He’s not expected to make a commitment anytime soon. Don’t look for that to happen until the halfway point of his senior season at least..........

Interesting interview that TAM is now coming after him thanks to John Chavis's Louisiana connections. It is a long time until NSD so let's see if Miami gets into his recruitment.

Please come here and play with DJ and Garvin, coach Kool would have the best DL in the country! Not to mention with Kool it only makes sense to come to UM, every DE and DT should be lined up begging to come here
