11. 2013 RB Alex Collins (South Plantation)
The most balanced back in South Florida, Collins shows a great mixture of speed and power. He has the ideal size at 5’11 185 and can carry the load with 20-25 touches a game. Has a nose for the end zone, scoring 27 times last year, while leading Broward County in rushing. He doesn’t play in a pro-style offense, so that may be an adjustment for him, but a combination of him and Duke Johnson at Miami could be special. The Canes commit had some grade issues early in high school, but those are reportedly cleared up.

12. 2014 RB Dalvin Cook (Central)
One of two Central Rocket running backs on this list, Cook has breakaway speed. He is dangerous in the return game and doesn’t need a large amount of touches to impact the game. He can break tackles and is elusive. His ceiling is very high.

13. 2013 S Jamal Carter (Southridge)
Carter has it all athletically. A physical safety (6’2 190), he is a hard hitter and is very good near the line of scrimmage. Carter is great with the ball in his hands as well, showing off his speed and elusiveness in the return game. He is the type of athlete that Coach D’Onofrio has been looking for on the back line of the defense, reminiscent of Ricardo Louis from last year’s class. Carter will be committing next week, and Miami fans should feel very confident.

14. 2014 ATH Treon Harris (Booker T)
This selection may cause some debate, but Harris is one of my favorite players in the country. While he plays QB at Booker T, many see him playing slot in college. He says he wants to play QB only, but we will see how things progress over the next two years. On the field, Harris is a baller. He makes plays in and out of the pocket and is a handful for defenses to contain. He is very similar to his brother Thearon Collier in that he isn’t the fastest or biggest, but he just goes out there and makes plays. You like him the more you watch him. Led Booker T to the state title game last year. He likes the Canes a lot.

15. 2013 LB Jermaine Grace (Miramar)
Grace is another prospect in this group who Canes fans should feel good about their chances. Grace is a great athlete, showing great speed and coverage skills from the linebacker spot. While he is a little undersized right now (6’1 200), he has a frame to add a lot of weight. He has a great motor and is a big-time tackler. Miami is in great shape and I would be stunned if he doesn’t wind up as a Cane.

The former Alabama commit, Burns is arguably the best athlete in South Florida. He is the nation’s best hurdler and has great size at 6’1 180. He plays both corner and safety at Northwestern, but I think he is better suited at safety in college. Seems to disappear at times, but I feel like he will be much more consistent this year. He is announcing on July 23rd and Miami is in great shape.

Kirkland is a high priority for Miami. He wants to play tackle in college, but projects better at guard, where he could be absolutely special. He has great feet for a 6’4 300 pound lineman and recently won MVP at The Opening in Oregon, competing against the top linemen in the country. Miami is right in the game with FSU making a push recently.

18. 2013 S/LB Isaac McDonald (Champagnat Catholic)
One of the most unique prospects in the country, McDonald has freakish athleticism at 6’6 with long arms and surprising physicality. He can be scary as an edge rusher and also drop back into coverage and be disruptive. He has incredible range and should be a perfect fight in the West Virginia defense.

19. 2015 ATH JaQuan Johnson (Killian)
The highest rated 2015 prospect on this list, Johnson plays DB and RB for the cougars. He exploded onto the scene last year as a freshman and was awarded 1st team All-Dade Honors for 8A, which is extremely impressive for a freshman. On defense, he is a ballhawk and a good tackler. He has good speed and is a very smart player. He is a playmaker on offense, but I think his future is on the defensive side of the ball. FSU and UF have both offered early on, and Miami should be offering during the season. He likes the Canes a lot.

McCrary is a game-breaker with great speed. He can turn a short reception into a touchdown. Has great hands and ball skills, can go into a crowd and come up with the tough catch. Good size (6’1 190) and will continue to put up big numbers with the quality QB play of Nico Pierre. Has a chance to move as high as the top 5 on this list.
