It looks like he's taken the next step. The most dominate performance I've seen from a cane in a long time... I love his attitude too, he brings a toughness to the defense.

Everyone in the 2 deep on the defensive side of the ball has upped their play from last year. The reason Perryman's is so noticeable can be attributed to Curtis Porter and the DL's improved play. Just go re-read this thread that LuCane started: http://www.canesinsight.com/threads...olden-s-effectiveness?highlight=curtis+porter

To go further on my point in my first sentence, check out this thread: http://www.canesinsight.com/threads/56082-Rank-our-units

So far, everyone has the DL and LB positions as the best on the team. Sure, it's just 2 games. But anyone that says they thought that would be the case after 2 games, before the season started, is a **** liar.

Good point about the two deep. After re-watching the game, everyone that played significant snaps made plays, with the exception of Crawford. **** even Cornelious and Highsmith made a few plays.

Its kind of funny with Crawford, you can see he is athletic as heck, but he has not taken that next step in his game. He does not look for the ball in the air. He is just running for the wr's arms and he is gonna get penalized doing that. Just a lil more film room time and continued work on his technique and he will start to make plays on the ball. The talent is there.

As big as Porter being healthy, Robinson stepping up this year and getting Renfrow was huge. It's been a long time since I've seen our LB's tackling people and not being carried for 3 more yards.

Not sure of it's weight or care level but Mark May gave him a helmet sticker for his 13 tackles and forced fumble.

It's not easy living up to the number 52 but he is doing a good job of it.

Who was the other guy that had 52? Mea culpa but, OH MY! DP was everywhere Saturday. I am sure Ray was jumping up and down screaming "that's what I'm talking about!" Our LBs always benefited huge from the DL, especially DTs. Moving to MLB hurt DP. Hopefully Al will obtain the proper balance across all positions so it will not be necessary to move players out of natural and best positions. How great was it to see Fig come in and make huge one-on-one open field tackle. Like the old days when the replacement came in and we went "WOW! Why isn't he starting?"

Hope DP stays another year. He hangs another year and gets bigger and NFL will be jumping up and down for the new Ray.

Was saying to my buddy after the game that it was first time ever that Sean T must have been proud of someone wearing #26. Jenkins was everywhere!!

Reminds me more of Nate Webster. Would love to see him complete this year and everyone be reminded of Nate's junior year. That was a truly dominant year.

/big Nate Webster fan here

RE: Butkus Watch List: No Denzel Perryman??????

Yes, exciting game and good effort by Mr. Perryman. Our watch list was released in July. We will be announcing our semi-finalists in late October. He doesn’t have to be on the watch list to become a semi-finalist.

Subject: Butkus Watch List: No Denzel Perryman??????

Hi Ron,

If you saw yesterday's game against UF, Denzel Perryman very much deserves to be on the list.

How is it he isn't listed?

With those big guys in front of him to keep him clean and free, dude showed good instincts and range.

he is on his way to the next level. I hope he sticks around, but, if he plays like this the rest of they year, i'm afraid we will lose him.

Perryman played a **** of a game, but also give credit to armbrister. I thought he was a below average OLB; on saturday he proved me wrong. His open field tackling, coverage, and pursuit were very much improved.

Gotta remember with Armbrister, he was a safety. It took him some time to come along physically, but he is a plus athlete at the position. He has a big future here.
