People who are as muscular as Perryman and get the flu are more at risk than the average individual. Something about not having a lot of body fat and getting the flu is dangerous.

Any highly tuned athlete is more prone to getting sick than the average person.

The intense training wears down your immune system.

BS, the right diet with rest and intene training keeps your immune system strong. I used to get sick a couple times a year, until I started doing crossfit training and changed my diet, I havent been sick since the fall of 2011.

Don't get me wrong sucks he has the flu but how is this a story? How did SMD get the greenlight to put this on the herald website?

The trainers I've spoken to in town--some of the top, reputable folks in Miami--urge people to stay away from crossfit. Just an FYI.

Please.. This is total BS. If he caught the flu and continued working out heavily or otherwise neglecting his health he could get sick, but his conditioning is NOT what made him sick.
I doubt we have a Gramblng-type bacteria issue, either.

I trained at a very high level in squash. So did my sister.

Everyone that was associated with that high cardio training programme got sick at some point or other.

That said we didn't do any magical crossfit(!)
