I do not like the lowering of the pro buyout for PSUs head coach. This is the only school I see golden leaving us for.

Oh well if our administration had an ounce of common sense they would keep a list of at least 3 potential coaches on hand at all times!

We would need more since every "young up and comer" would be fired by the board experts here within 2.5 years.

I don't see it happening. He just had the sanctions lifted here, you can tell in his interviews how it feels like the weight of the world was removed from his back. I can't see him putting himself right back under that. If PSU was in good standing, i might be a little more concerned. But not right now.

Oh, and as i've mentioned in other posts, PSU doesn't pay its coaches all that well. Even with his $1M raise, O'Brien wasn't making what Golden makes. O'Brien was at $1.9M this year (950k plus the 1M bonus), which goes back down to $1.1 next year and back to $1.6 in 2015. Golden made $2.1M this year.

I read an article recently that said Munchak, Schiano and James Franklin would be interested if O'Brien left. All have ties, so that makes sense. It makes you wonder if Franklin could even be a candidate at this point with the rape issue recently at Vandy. PSU needs to stay as clean as possible and away from negative press, to keep moving forward.

Al only leaves for NFL where he can hide is BFF on the staff someplace. No major university would take him with Mark after the last two years. Plus, I doubt he wants to go to PSU and clean up another mess.

Why would Golden leave? His recruiting classes in 13' and 14' have things moving forward at UM. Penn State won't be able to play in a bowl game for a couple of more years. What's the temperature in Happy Valley today?

Al has zero pressure to win. Why leave when annoited a saint for staying through the NCAA mess?

Since we are speculating without any real information, I do not like throwing out the notion that Golden is really Zolder from the planet Voltar sent here to tantalize unsuspecting posters on CI. Hey, I just increased my post count, and started another pointless thread, cool!::alien::

Typical dumber$$ chuckles response.
O'Brien's contract shift making his departure more likely may not happen this year, but soon. Golden is already a hot commodity for his management of the NCAA while hosting the talent and win totals. His clean reputation makes him more attractive to PSU. A state school will always be able to out pay us.
I don't see him as a pro coach, but the $$ of a big state school could lure him, especially his alma mater.

YES! I boosted my post count!!

See, this is how it works. Now, I'll go to another site and post "Just heard from a usually reliable source that Golden Is Zolder from the planet Voltar. My guy is usually spot on, so take it FWIW."

You have to admit, we should have fired Coker and Randy after 2.5 each.

they werent young up and comers...Coker was an unproven hold over and Shannon was the assistant in a failed regime.....the Shannon hire especially was a disasterous decision.

Golden and Marky Mark going home sounds good to me, take their 3-4, zone defense back to the BIG we can hire Pat Narduzzi

FIXED.....

Why in the **** would PSU want GOlden. He is a cheerleader, and not a coach. Do to be worried about PSU taking him off our hands.

Got it. Howard was the biggest name we ever got, so not him. JJ and Dennis were "young up and coming" I guess, but nobody was calling for thier heads. So that leaves Butch, who I guess many did want fired at one time, and Al. In fairness, we didn't start calling for Al's head until after 8th game of 3rd season, plus he was here for the previous bowl game. So let's call it 2.75 years.
