The "math" is definitely in our favor.

*His parents want him to stay home, especially mom.
*Pops might've went to LSU but he wants nothing to do with Louisiana anymore.
*Pops and Rumph have a great relationship.
*Chatfield and Pat Jr are like brothers. Chatfield actually stays at the Surtain house. If Chat still comes here, it's good for Jr.
*We're his last visit.
*Although he's considered an "LSU lock", he hasn't committed. How is that a lock?

But unfortunately recruiting often defies logic and math.

Surtain is from Louisiana, went to Edna karr but he didn’t go to LSU, he went to southern miss. But yeah I agree On all fronts of what you said , some stuff is in our favor but we will see

also ps2 lives a life of luxury here in south fla in his dad's nice crib. does he really want to give that up for ghetto *** baton rouge stuck in some ***** dorm? prolly not.

Still don’t understand the fascination with LSU. Why in the world would he go there? Because pops is from Louisiana, but didn’t even go to LSU?

If anything, LSU spurned Surtain Sr if he wound up at Southern Miss. I never really got the LSU connection for Jr though. Not from there, dad didn’t go there. Maybe visited a few times but it’s not like he was was raised in Baton Rouge or even New Orleans. They have their claim to DBU I guess, but there’s tons of schools trying to claim that. Death Valley is cool at night? But so is Hard Rock. Idk man.

I mean.....the NFL is full of LSU players at **** near every position except QB. They’re on a **** of a roll right now from a “Get guys in the league” perspective. Their guys get to the league and they ball out. Their 2010-Present run has been incredible.

Don’t get me wrong, these guys never won championships in college or anything....but they’re all producing at a high level.

As a cane fan, think of how we felt during the 99-06 NFL U run....that’s what LSU is doing right now.

If you’re objective, you see the appeal.

After giving it plenty of thought, it is becoming more and more certain that Surtain and company end up here.

It all starts with Surtain Sr.

The way I see it, Surtain Sr. does not want to see his son go anywhere if you saw how choked up he was after their championship game. He may have been ok with the thought of him going before (to LSU obviously), but to me, I believe that has changed. I think staying close to home has become a factor for the Surtain family.

Next, recruiting wisdom says "watch the visits". I haven't seen anywhere that the Surtain family went to any LSU games or unofficial visits this past season, while Surtain Sr. and his wife have been to the Rock twice. Surtain Jr. once to the Notre Dame game, which was rocking. This tells me that they're not "head over hills" for LSU anymore.

Also, I think that Rumph is a bigger factor in this equation than most realize. Rumph and Surtain are tight, and if two people are tight, than that means there is trust there. I know Surtain Sr. wants his son coached by the best, and Corey Raymond is one of the best in the business, but I think Rumph has shown Surtain Sr. that he can trust him with his boy.

Lastly, it's apparent that all four AH boys want to stick together, which is why all four will take that official visit together to Miami.

So to bring it all home, it's obvious that with Surtain, it's a Miami vs LSU for his services right now. There is nothing pointing to OSU, FSU or even Bama being in play for him. At this point, outside of the rest of the Surtain family residing in New Orleans, I don't see what other advantage LSU would have with Surtain. They also can't play "bag games" with the Surtain's because they got money already.

If you look at all of the mentioned factors, it's a mathematical certainty that Miami lands Surtain, thus landing the rest as they would surely want to stick together.

Why do you think it's Miami vs LSU? Did something happen with Alabama?

I don't think LSU is in the picture. However, the fact that the whole Surtain family went on the OV to Bama has me worried. You don't bring your whole family on an OV anywhere unless you're seriously considering the school which is why I think LSU is out. I don't want to burst everyone's bubble, but it's hard to get over the OV photo of the whole family including Grandma.

If he takes an OV to Miami, I'll feel better about the situation.

Yea, but Pops is repping Adidas.

Will you guys feel better if the entire Surtain family drives all night all the way to campus and comes on his OV this weekend?

UMJAY..SPOT ON.

I don't get it either we are putting together a TEAM to make a serious run at NC with a D loaded with HAWSES (MAD DOG Jim Mandich quote). A mystery it truly is plenty on TV time , huge games ,NFL funnel , close to home, family friends can see all home games , great coaches , quick playing time the list is long in why to stay home , if U make a list of PRO and CONS I assure U the wise move is the U.

Why LSU or really anybody else right now just doesn't make sense , yes I'm a homer but common sense says the U but I guess common sense to 18 year old who know everything already about life and decisions knows better till they lay in bed in the dorm at night wondering what have I done.

I never understood the logic that PS2 was a LSU lock when they didn't offer his Dad who was a local recruit. Has to be some resentment there.

I agree with this logic.

10-4 there's some PRIDE involved here which tells me fall could follow with casualties , unless common sense prevails.

The only reason LSU is/was even in the picture is because both parents are from the area and PS2 wanted to play in front of all the relatives there.

I think there was actual interest outside of that. However, Coach O is making a mess of LSU and it's pretty obvious to see.
