Patrick Surtain jr.

lol at a new HC getting rid of Raymond. Sure, anything is possible but that dude is the staff's best recruiter and he's a legend in the state.

And to another poster who mentioned it - the Suratins have gone out of their way to praise Raymond but I don't recall anything above a whisper about Rumph. I've heard how Suratin is tight with Rumph b/c Rumph gave him his first HC job - soounds like hopeful dot connecting...

Reading that article tells me two things. 1) Surtain Jr is going to LSU and 2) despite saying it's Jr's decision, Sr is driving the bus and pushing him there.

I agree that the article seems "pro LSU", and rightfully so. It is an SEC Country LSU website. Were you expecting it to be "pro Miami?"

I don't have a clue regarding where Surtain will sign, but I am not putting any weight into this article. Based on the feel/vibe of this article, PS2 is beating his dyck to thoughts/images of Raymond during the time that he is actually on the phone with Rumph.
Nope. I definitely was not expecting it to be pro-Miami. With that said, I stand by what I said. And while you're joking, Sr probably is beating his dyck to those thoughts.

PS2 could very well end up at L$U. However, that article has as much relevance as a cassette tape in a Tesla.

It's a reason why a pro LSU website felt the need/pressure to post such article the day after PS2 was at our bowl practice.

I guess my point is I believe dad wants him to go to LSU, and that's why I think the kid is going to end up there. I want our coaches to keep recruiting him to the end, but I think when it's all said and done the kid is going where he's been led so to speak. Sr is saying he's letting the kid decide, but he wants him somewhere, and I'm pretty sure it ain't Miami.

Anyway, before this thing goes off the rails, my initial point was that I believe that Sr is pushing him to LSU, which is unfortunate.

The vast majority of the time a new HC brings in his people. That's how it works. Tons and tons of good position coaches have been let go.

That's just how it works.

Just a side note with Surtain & PS2, usually former NFL players can see a couch a mile away and keep their kids away, no way I would attach my future to Orgeron

His recruitment has less to do with the head coach and more to do with Raymond

Journeyman HC means the DB coach will change

Even if O gets fired in the next two years guarantee Raymond would be held over by the next staff. He's a known commodity as one of the best in country at his job.

Coach Kool wasn't retained when Missouri got a new head coach. And Kool > Raymond as far as coaching reputation goes.

My point is that it happens. New coach wants his own guys in. Especially if the new head coach is a defensive guy, and wants his own scheme and wants things done in a certain way.

I'm glad we're at least fighting for him. Make the SEC schools use time resources and understand that they're no longer gonna cherry pick top talent in SoFla without a fight from us to the end. This is our front yard. We fight here.

Position coaches are rarely retained. Especially twice in a row

If Surtain to LSU was such a done deal he would have signed there already. Thats a fact.

Right, there's obviously no possibility that the kid knows where he wants to go but also wants to wait for NSD. Just because he doesn't seem like a prima donna doesn't mean he doesn't want the signing day spotlight for a few minutes. Or maybe there are other things going on. While him not signing in December is a good sign for us, it's hardly proof that he's undecided.

If his mind is made up, then why's he at UM bowl practice and coming for an OV? If he's making himself available to be recruited, then he's still open.

Obviously anything can happen if the kid is willing to listen, just pointing out that nobody knows his mind but him.

My god you are dense. Orgeron isn't new. If Raymond was going to get let go it would have happened already. And defensive back issues aren't really a thing at LSU. Raymond will be there as long as he wants to be.

How long will Orgeron be there? Can't lose to Troy State every year.

This is the correct approach.

Don’t just hand anybody over. Make them expend resources, time and energy. And in the end, they could end up ******** something up and we could get him.

1 to 2 more years. He's already scape-goating his OC. The rest of the LSU staff will follow him to the unemployment line as well.

Listened to the Joe Rose show this morning where Pat Surtain Sr gave a breakdown of Pat Junior's final school list. From the tone of his voice, don't get your heart broken. He ain't coming.

There's the old "tone of voice" CIS analysis that I love.

"tone of voice" is the old way to analyze an interview, chise. the new way isn't even in the words. it's in the direction he's facing. surtain was facing northeast, towards greece, during the interview. greece and grease are homophones. grease is fat, and so is butter. butter and flour make roux. roux is used in a lot of louisiana cooking. lsu is in louisiana. surtain to lsu confirmed.

Same posters saying Orgeron will be gone after 3 years that said Kirby Smart would be gone after 3 years.

Another year, maybe two. He is already throwing assistants under the bus, which means it's just a matter of time.

He’s got one year. He’s going to get spanked by us in the opener and will probably lose to Auburn, UGA, Bama, and A & M

We have the advantage. Pat Sr can talk all he want about LSU being great, but he must know they have a journeyman HC.

He isn't all Rosy about LSU either.....

And he sure didn't mind copying our TO chain....

The Surtain family can do that 6 times a year. Come watch their son play ball a few miles away from the house. For a proven winner and great man as HC. I have no idea if our late push and the other Heritage kids will be enough to get him. We got a punchers chance until he doesn't visit or he signs.
