"Atlantic Coast Conference coach of the midyear: Al Golden, Miami. He’s spent 2 ½ seasons laboring under the looming cloud of an NCAA investigation – always an enjoyable way to work. But the reward for stoic perseverance is this potential breakthrough season. The Hurricanes are 5-0 for the first time since 2004 heading into a Thursday night game at North Carolina, and could be headed for a momentous two weekends in November: at Florida State on Nov. 2 and hosting Virginia Tech on Nov. 9. The long ACC wait for an impact season from the 'Canes may finally be at hand."

I heard Pat O'brien interview Golden after the gator win.
He told Al that The Canes always hold a special place for him since his son was conceived while watching a Miami-Oklahoma game.
Says he occasionally pops in a tape of the game and says, "honey, remember that night?"

Not all the media hates us.

Yet another example of the supposedly anti-UM media praising our coach.

The fawning will only increase as we continue to have success on the field. Should we beat FSU and continue to remain undefeated going into the ACC championship, they will not shut up about the U being back. And they will be right.

Not sure if serious.

Forde has been a major douche regarding the program lately.

He can sit on rebar for all I care.

Big difference between praising our coach (who they try to link to **** near every job opening) because they know he gets it and being biased against the program in general for the threat to the establishment that we posed and will pose going forward with Golden AL at the helm.

Are you suggesting that Forde is biased against our football program, but nevertheless praises the leader of that program? That is one inconsistent theory.

Or are you suggesting that bc of his bias against UM, he is praising Golden in the hopes that will get him hired elsewhere? If so, the conspiracy theorists around here know no bounds.

Forde has hated us with a passion for many years now. This is one of the first positives I've seen out of him.

Forde is your typical midwestern, Big10/12-is-the-center-of-the-universe, hack and he has shown his colors many times over the years. I'll leave this here for anyone who suspects that Forde is not otherwise biased against our Canes.

That article was not biased against UM or anti-UM. He specifically acknowledged the strides the program made in distancing itself from the bad-boy 80s image, and the 7th Floor rap song was stupid and runs counter to the image the school and the program were trying to present. That's a reasonable opinion from a national sportswriter.

Did u expect him - or herbstreit, Howard, fowler, etc... - to come out in support if the rap song?

Please explain how that article is biased.

I would expect a reasonably balanced sports pundit (like Herbstreit and Howard have typically been) not to participate in the type of sanctimonious grandstanding that Forde employed in that article as well as many times since in regards to our Canes. That was just one instance of Forde blowing a negative Miami story out of all proportion to its context. Feel free to peruse his musings when the Yahoo story broke if you want to see him clutching his pearls and wagging his finger in disapproval at ThugU. He may like Golden but IMO he is no fan of the Canes.

Lots of programs make the same claims that we do whether they are justified in doing so or not but remember we're not every team - we're Miami. I'm sure you know our history going back to at least the early 80s.

Let me just make a general statement that even when we were in the title hunt almost every year in the late eighties and early nineties - meaning we were winning big - the media villianized and scandalized us. And please do not forget that many of the media "darlings" who appear to be warming to our current success are the same a$$ clowns who were calling for us to get the death penalty at the start of Nevingate.

I hope Coach Al will become an institution in Miami like Rene Rancourt is in Boston.

The best examples of Forde's loathing of Miami is not in articles about Miami, it's in the articles NOT directly about Miami where he might bring us up in regards to "troubled/dirty/cheating programs in trouble with the NCAA." It's the small unnecessary shots he makes in his articles where Miami is not the main topic.

They all love Al Golden because they want him coaching their teams

But they do hate Miami
