Through two games Henry Parrish has elite patience & vision to let plays develop and make the right cuts/find the right holes. Reminds me of Leveon Bell patience.
AL Blades was in great position getting to the spot along the sideline from his safety position w/ over the top help, but put his arms out as if he was fielding a punt or kick rather than go high point the ball and take the ball/ make a play (I.e Williams & Kam‘s INT’s game 1). Luckily Rique made a play batting the ball down from trail position. I feel this is what manny’s D was, guys not aggressive and smart making plays….Under Mario we see a much better approach and guys making plays rather than watching receptions happen(aside from Ivey, haha)
O line has been very good. Often moving guys and getting good push/ creating holes. Not too penalized thus far..O line showing depth as well, with a bunch of promising young guys in the program, not to mention the elite clas coming in, which likely adds another 1 or 2 O linemen.
vanilla D or not, haven’t seen the will and fortitude to win in getting to the QB for timely pressure or sacks. Secondary can’t cover forever. We need the pash rush for entire defensive team to shine and secondary make plays/taking the ball away causing TO’s.
would have liked to see more bubble screens or other short pass/screen game calls to get the speed guys in space like rooster & Brashard (not that jet sweep tho, hah). Additionally Southern Miss was taking the deep quarters away, but GATTIS was reluctant to keep hitting those 4, 5, 7 yard passes that Restrepo continually got YAC and turned them into first downs. Maybe just getting fundamentals down, but I would think GATTIS would generally adjust quicker.
