Gonna make him earn the offer. Staff hasn't seen him play in pads yet.

Got a lot of targets out there in 17 and 18 without an offer for the same reason, wouldn't sit well with some if we try to make a run on them late and we offered a sophomore before them.

How have we not offered Machado?

He's very small.

I'm not worried about that kid having the size, he's a Machado. Ask anybody from the Carol City/North Dade area and they'll tell you he comes from a long line of BIG Cuban Brothers. If he grows to be slightly below the average size of the men in his family, he'll have a great LB frame. I played HS ball and am good friends with one of his older cousins, John, who played DE for Iowa State. We used to call him Black Ivan Drago. They also have another cousin that starts at OT for Michigan State. If anything, I wonder what kind of mentality & heart he's gonna have. Big Jesus had the size to play in the trenches for a P5 team as a 7th Grader but he had a bit of the Tin Man Syndrome. John on the other hand, I remember when he didn't know how to put on all his pads correctly but he was big, raw, and willing. If he's got a heart like the Machado I played with, I say we should've beaten Bama to the punch.

If he worked out as a DE and the staff views him as a DE, I can see the concern...but as a LB i'm puzzled

I'm assuming it's because he hasn't played a game of HS yet. Expect an offer maybe during or after the season.

Can't believe that Machado kid just graduated from 8th grade. That is insane. He looks like he could play right now.
