Do we only have Matt Goudis on the roster as a P/K?? If so, are we looking at recruiting a P/K (looks like Irwin-Hill is a long shot) or preparing for a walk-on??

Golden said prior that we aren't looking for a scholarship K/P this year. Goudis and the walk ons will handle this year. He said there is a great opportunity for walk ons. Said we will be giving a scholarship for one in 2014. Said easier to be kicking in front of coaches all year then sending a tape that may or may not get seen.

Ehh, what kind of quality walk on does UM with super high tuition get? Hopefully Goudis is the real deal, I know we are limited on ships but sounds kinda risky.

There is a k/p at Central who has an absolute cannon, I am sure he could handle one of the duties, but also understand we are limited on ships... Hopefully we dont have too many games come down to the wire

Carlos Huerta says hello!

Also just because you play football, doesn't mean you are poor and can't afford to attend UM (especially if you are a kicker, lol). Not to mention the fact that there are tons of available scholarships and financial aid available to UM students. Don't get sticker shock.

As an aside, good read:

Emilio Nadelman, has a crazy leg on him. Going to USF to kick and punt. Believe Miami only wanted him to kick.

Here is the kicking situation for next year

Scholarship:

Matt Goudis K (Rd-So)

Walk-on:

Ricky Carroll P (Sr, JUCO)
Alex Irastorza K/P (Sr)
Ricky Perez K (So)
Zach Costa K (So)

Irastorza has a good leg, could be the kickoff specialist. He's a Columbus kid.

Goudis will probably do FG and Punts

Yea thats him. Doubt he has a commitable offer tho right? Cuz I am sure he would take it over USF.

walk on kickers from columbus, ehh... Dont remember them having a beast kicker the last few years, guess they will have to do as a stop gap

I would be more than happy to trade having one specialist on scholarship who is a good place kicker but only an average punter for an extra scholarship to use elsewhere.

is it me or Dustink Hopkins little bambi hops he does before a kick is about 20 times more annoying than him spray painting his shoes like a woman before every game?

See, if you watch that video you would think he's a P and FG/XP possibility, but doesn't have the top end leg strength for kickoffs (can't reach endzone even in his highlights). This bewilders me because I thought we could all fully evaluate kids off youtube clips lol.
