Our recievers performance, what do you think?

Seemed to me, that NO ONE could get open, ****, Dorsett couldn't get a foot of seperation, most of the time.

What was up with that?

Coley got wide open enough, but unfortunately, "Manos De Piedra" is NOT a compliment in football.

I was on ground level, so maybe I missed some things?

If there was anytime we needed a Miami Hurricane defensive performance...it will be next week. Those FAU DBs were on point. There safety was bringing the wood and jarred 1 TD and almost another. Man, that's what I miss from our safetys. Our WRs were having problems with seperation, but I'm not a trained eye.

I saw Dorsett goo long three times, and he never got even a half step away from his coverage. It was disconcerting.

We showed very little in the passing game. A bunch of 1 yard screen plays, a couple dropped crossing route TDs by Coley. Dorsett was simply out of sync, and Morris really forced a couple because he was somewhat impatient. Wasn't all bad though, Waters made some plays. Warlord also got involved, which is good to see.

All in all, it felt like we were definitely holding back. We'll see just how much against Gatuh.

FAU has an athletic defense that should be stated first but the rest of it has to do w/ the fact that Miami was calling the same pass plays majority of the game.

Morris was forcing throws to Dorsett w/ 2 guys covering him and all Dorsett was running was go routes from what i saw.

FAU wasnt the first time we've seen our receivers play so unless you think they are now much worse then they were last year, it doesnt make sense to think that somehow there skills have diminished.

Our WR's were so average it's almost as though it was on purpose. It was an odd game from a passing standpoint.

I'm assuming that we didn't even empty out the playbook

Route concepts were far too basic for a team with NFL caliber wide receivers and an NFL caliber QB.

We didn't see anything in the name of shallow crosses, slants, digs, or double moves.

We were very basic in our approach.

Truth be told if our receivers can't get separation................ Houston we have a problem .
Against Florida DB's it may be even more pronounced. We need big body possession receivers and Scott was our last one
All the other guys are small which plays to the strength of the gators db´s. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Anyone worried that Brennan Carroll coaching the WR's has something to do with this? George McDonald had done a really nice job here developing receivers, can't help but think we've downgraded at that spot.

I'd bet the mortgage that the offense Miami runs Saturday will look nothing like the offense it ran vs FAU.

I think Miami will attack the middle of the field constantly.

That's my hope and expectation, but Coley doesn't have enough of a track record for me to be 100% sure.

Stacy Coley, Allen Hurns, and Herb Waters got separation against FAU.....

The whole thing about our receivers not being able to get separation is overstated.... Dorsett was the only one who had that issue ONLY b/c he was getting double teamed all game.

Like I said, If our receivers could get open last year then why does one game, w/ a vanilla offensive game plan, have yall so worried about them this year?

Pretty much sums up how I feel about it.

Coley was getting separation with ease

Coley looks like the only time he doesn't get separation is when he's blocking.

All in all, I thought we ran a very simplified offense. Honestly, half the time it looked like our receivers weren't even trying, like it was a half speed scrimmage.

+1
They couldn't contain him... A few key drops but that won't happen to the kid again... First game jitters... Too be honest I don't believe we have much speed at the wideout position with the exception of a few players... Now I must admit I wasn't too high on the athleticism of Waters but that kid has some speed... I was wrong but outside of Coley, Dorsett and him I don't think we have that much speed... We really didn't recruit too many players at wideout with speed... Most of them until last year was big possession guys...

Yeah, I'm really hoping it was the intentional vanilla playcalling. Also hope that wasn't our REAL 3rd, 4th and short offense.

I can see that.

And that's a bad thing... We have been preaching full effort... On top of that outside of a couple Big gains orchestrated by Duke our offense wasn't that productive... I don't think Coley is in position to hold back... He wasn't a good OC at FIU and he was mentored by a conservative offensive savant in Jimbo...

That's the point. I don't think our offense was trying to lay a whipping on FAU.
