Anyone here follow Nova Southeastern hoops?
Interested because their coach Crutchfield has 2 Div2 National Championships within last 3 years, and
came within seconds of within winning no.3 last season.
Apparently lots of big-time coaches admire him and have sought him out for his expertise.
Names like Coach Larranaga, Brad Stevens, Erik Spoelstra, Joe Mazulla, Dusty May, Popovich, etc.
I remember Coach L hyping him and his program during a preseason game.
From what I read, his style is similar to what Bruce Pearl runs at Auburn and before coaching
hoops he was a tennis coach at West Liberty State (WV).
He apparently runs somewhat unorthodox style of practices, etc.

Anyways, sorry for the OT post.
I just find him to be an interesting character.
Good article on him in "The Athletic" too.
Reminds me a little like Mike Leach.

Here is a background on him.

I posted on him a year or so ago. Amazing story. They press on everything but with no rhyme or reason at times. Missed shot by Nova. They immediately double the rebounder. They just wear down teams. Remember played them a few years ago in a scrimmage and they gave us all we could handle.

Doesn’t really follow the nba, didn’t know some guys who were asking to talk to him. Doesn’t save practice schedules.

The Athletic publication had a really good article on him and just as good were the follow-up comments by the readers.
Many claimed that as brilliant a coach he is, it may be tough to do this at a big-time Div1 program because his system requires total buy-in and commitment.
Several cited the case with Shaka Smart who ran much more pressing at VCU but less so at Texas even though he was recruiting better talent (on paper, at least).
Regardless, have to respect what he has achieved.
Amazing work by him.
