Thoughts on the new system? Reall would love to hear the board's insight.

I think overall, it's good for the ACC teams (Orange Bowl opponent and guaranteed payouts). However, the process looks like it can be easily used as a pretext for back room dealing and corruption:

1. Selection committee's votes are secret
2. No limits on number of schools from a conference (Just think SEC slurp)
3. Non-Big 5 conferences losing even more ground (would Miami been given a chance to play with traditional powers in the 80s and 90s with the same system?)
4. No reliance on any polls (sounds positive, but it's not like the polls will just stop with their rankings - members will inevitably be influenced - just think of the basketball tourney selection)

Really? I guess I'll go create another threat about cool ranch doritos, the defensive scheme, and 5 stars in the two-deep.

this playoff format is a recipe for disaster. Why the **** does Rice belong on committee? There will be 3 SEC team in every playoff.

No matter what it will have bumps in the road since it's a "new system" even though college football is literally the only major team sport without some kinda playoff format

Yes - because we were independent & played a top 10 schedule every year (teams like ND, FSU, UF, OU, UH, BYU, Mich)

I welcome this. Imagine if we missed out on a chance to make the playoff because of Boise or Fresno going undefeated playing garbage. Glad to see the mid-majors getting shut out like they should be.

Miami played great schedules when we were an independent so I don't see the comparison.

IMO, the playoff will be a net benefit to Miami. We won't have to be concerned as much about the perception of the ACC if we're competing for 1 of 4 slots rather than 1 of 2.

For example, under the old system, a 1 loss Miami may not have got into the BCS NCG in years like 2006, 2008, 2011. This increases the likelihood of our 1 loss teams making it to the championship game.

Had this system existed in 2000, we'd have 6 rings.

4 team playoff = 2 SEC teams, Oregon, and everybody else screaming about which non SEC 1 loss team deserves to be in the 4 team playoff over the other.

The fact that Miami and FSU could possibly have to play each other twice year in and out is a recipe for disaster for ACC representation.

That is a lot better than having 1 slot available to a non-SEC team as has been the case for the last 7 seasons. And then of course there was 2011, when SEC teams accounted for BOTH spots.

What the ACC should have done when the new members joined was re-shuffle the divisions and put Miami and FSU in the same division like the Big12 used to have with OU and Texas. The Big10 wised up as well and will have new divisions next year pitting OSU and Michigan in the same one.

Exactly.... the ACC is stupid for having the schedules and cross divisional match-ups the way they are.

FSU and Miami should be in the same division, just like LSU and Bama. Virginia Tech shouldve been a cross divisional rival that both teams would only have to play each other every other year. That way there can be fair scheduling, VT can play FSU (vice/versa) and Miami can play Clemson in between the years Clemson plays FSU and VT plays Miami.

The reason the ACC did it was obvious....they wanted a Miami/FSU championship game. That was why they originally put the game in Florida for the first 4 seasons or whatever it was.

At some point its going to cost the conference a seat in the playoff. And Miami or FSU a shot at a championship. Just dumb.

I expect minimal improvement simply because we're going to 4 teams (i.e. more of a complete picture) but it will not work early on.

- Now that we have a committee (i.e. another opinion) the results on the field matter less and the fact that we have Rice in there is a joke beyond belief.
- The school limits are an obvious mistake because the polls are terribly biased to begin with.
- They over complicated the system

When they are ready to fix it, they will change the following:

- 8 team playoff
- 5 teams come from the conference championships (ACC, Big 10, Big 12, PAC-12 and SEC)
- 3 At-Large Teams
- 2 Maximum Teams Per Conference
- Independents are not eligible

To be eligible to make the playoff tournament, you will need to do the following:

- 12 Regular Season Games
- A team must play 5 games on the road (no neutral BS can count) and 1/5 must be out of conference
- A team must schedule 2 of their 4 OOC games against BCS conference schools
- A team may schedule the other 2 OOC games against anyone

Use the BCS Poll to determine the other 3 Best Teams (remember 5 teams comes from conf. champs)

- SOS
- Record
- RPI

This thing is the obamacare of college athletics. The whole thing is designed to crash the system creating the need for a single payer - eeerrrrrrrr - full on playoff system.

The regular season is what makes college football so much better than every other sport. These animals will destroy it so they can get more money for themselves.

And why the **** is the vote secret? Why not transparent?
