Miami has ALWAYS had issues with JUCO bc of Shalala and her uppity attitude.

And finally, Butch put more probowlers in the NFL than any college coach EVER.

Once again, an absolute lie about Shalala. Nobody at UM has ever had a problem taking JuCos. JuCos are guys who already have 2-year degrees and can handle college classes, plus they don't have to arm-wrestle the SAT.

The real issue was Randy Shannon. He took Kayne Farquaharson in his first signing class, and then he got skittish. I don't think we signed another JuCo for 3 years.

Coker signed JuCos. Coker signed JuCos. Randy didn't.

The problem is that guys like continue to prop this dude up no matter what. Everyone appreciates dude and all he did for Miami but **** he’s gone, not coming back and has another job. All the responses in this thread are clueless, here's the reality:

1. 4* Teair Tart Spencer: Was an Alabama lock until he got kicked off the team at Last Chance U. That's hard to do. Lost all of his SEC offers, so only schools like FIU/FAU would take him. Huge headcase.

2. 4* Tayland Humphrey: Came as part of a package deal with his brother, 2* OL John Bolding. No major school was going to do a package deal when the good player is a Juco.

So that's the reality. FIU is taking some chances not just that Miami won't, but that literally no other P5 school won't either

These are the correct reasons.

When a remedial community college with few scruples like Alabama actually wants you, but won’t touch you, because you’re even too low character for them and when no other school will touch the other guy, it’s not a sign of genius recruiting, it’s only a sign of knowing your place in recruiting pecking order - born only of low standards and desperation.

It doesn’t mean Butch is still some genius, it means he’s the coach at a shlthole like FIU and has no other choice.
