Only last week, Richt specifically talked about former recruits grabbing him or his coaches after games asking to transfer back in, and having to tell them that he's sorry but they don't re-recruit kids that they offered but chose other programs. I think it's a policy of his, and I doubt Grimes is even in the discussion.

I like Richt, but that's a silly policy that sounds like it was originated on this site.

No, he said that. I don't think it's an absolute policy so much as him just letting recruits know that other guys have dissed Miami then realized their mistake but found that we aren't putting up with that. Richt isn't an idiot, so I assume he'd take a transfer at a position of need if he felt the kid was good enough.

I think this situation is a little different. This is not a kid wanting to come because he realized he made a bad decision. IIRC....Grimes is wanting to come back home due to an ill family member. Maybe Richt views that differently.

He won’t go to UF I know that for a fact...He’ll go back to OSU and deal with his problem there than be on the same team with Jake Allen.

With all of the WR talent in south Florida, why would we take one that would have to sit out a year? One who wouldnt give us the time of day to boot?

If the guy wants to come back to Miami let him. But don't kiss his *** or beg him. let him compete life is to short to hold senseless grudges.
 
Some of you make my head hurt. This is a 5 star talent falling into our laps and you want to hold a grudge? He never disrespected UM in any way. All Golden was there the majority of his time in HS. Of course he looked elsewhere.

Because depth wise we should be just fine with just signing the 3 WRs we just did & Grimes is a consensus 5 star talent. Seems logical if we did advance with TG

Isn't there a rule where he might not have to sit out a year if the transfer is due to a hardship? This staff clearly loves big bodied receivers, so I would think he fits the mold.

Exactly, he’s not even a traditional South Florida kid. He grew up mostly in Indiana and had an affinity for Ohio State. Apparently his mother and Trevon were close to dugans in the recruiting process too.

I think this situation is a little different. This is not a kid wanting to come because he realized he made a bad decision. IIRC....Grimes is wanting to come back home due to an ill family member. Maybe Richt views that differently.

I agree. While it may be a good policy in general, I think you make exceptions. Grimes never really f'd with us the way Jobe, Henderson, and ugly belly did. There are also legitimate reasons (health of family members) for him to come to S FL.
