Tom Lemming, CBS Sports Network recruiting expert......

Miami has been one of the biggest surprises this recruiting seasons, according to Lemming. With an NCAA investigation still ongoing, the future of the football program appears to be up in the air. Despite a cloud of uncertainty hanging over Coral Gables, head coach Al Golden has managed to bring in one of the better classes in recent memory.

"He's relentless, he's aggressive, he's personable and there aren't that many guys like that," Lemming said.

It's a good thing because with an outflow of players from last year's team, the Hurricanes will need some help. According to Lemming, this class could make the most impact of any of the Florida teams. Again, a testament to Golden.

"Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, Al Golden, Pete Carroll, they all recruit with chips on their shoulder," Lemming adds. "Almost like they cannot be beaten."

That is some serious company.

Everyone says stuff about the uncertainty of the football program. Do we just have blinders on because we are fans or are all the writers and other teams fans going just off the yahoo article?

Ive been thinking the exact same way. Its like everyone who just heard about the scandal on ESPN thinks were getting the death penalty..

Both. The report was very sensationalized, but we also have blinders on. If another team had suspensions and self-imposed bowl bans we would automatically assume that the program was guilty as well. Like we always say, "where there is smoke...". I think it is really tough for fans to look at it objectively.

However, even with the suspensions, bans, etc looming, Golden still did a **** of a job. I think that is what a lot of the "experts" are keying in on. Lets face it, Miami has not been relevant in the National scene for 8 or so years. So pulling a top 10 class with all of this stacked against him is phenomenal.

It's much more **** to talk about Miami's wrongdoings than anyone else's. The NCAA and the suits have always felt shamed by our success, why would that change now?

Well there is certainly uncertainty. I think most everyone realizes the death penalty is not coming, but if there is one thing the NCAA has shown, it's its total lack of consistency when handing out judgments. Hopefully, I think, we end up on the lighter side, but I can certainly understand a recruit that is considering multiple schools to go elsewhere with the unknowns at Miami right now.

i agree totally. I am amazed at the job golden and staff has done. This class has the chance to turn it around and i really believe they will.

as a fan i know i overlook some of the bad things that could happen with the ncaa but outside of the yahoo article and espn talking about it all day there has really been nothing else come out.

The reason the Hurricanes are singled out is fairly understandable.

Note the 30 for 30 film, "The U."

Note too, that one wasn't done on Alabama, LSU, Oregon, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Penn State, or the other schools - and that film had a large impact on folks. So when Miami is 'breaking bad with the rules again,' then everyone assumes it's really bad, really big, and that the next time the NCAA is going to pound hard.

Trouble is, it's one thing to make ****loads of claims, even though by a convicted felon.

Another to prove.

Fame. Notoriety. Two sides of the same coin.

I'll take it.

Mission accomplished for Mr. Golden. He knew that being the HC at Miami would instantly put him in the big leagues; mentioned in the same breath as the best in the business.

He knew this gig was a hanging curveball.

If you have a great work ethic and don't have your head up your ***, being the head coach at Miami is hard to F up.

On the flip side, it shines a light on the epic incompetence that has been the norm for the last 10 years.

We got Al just in the nick of time. Our glory years could only keep the sinking ship afloat for so long.

Yes it is - with Golden at the helm we have good things ahead of us. Unfortunately I don't see us getting any instant gratification with the state the program was in when he arrived.

No matter the NCAA's eventual decision on sanctions - the future of this program is bright with Golden.
