I'm interested to hear what you all think about this. So I know everyone is ripping the coaches Richt right now. And looking at the state of the QB and offensive recruiting as a whole, deservedly so. But I think that the practice of waiting to get a QB isn't the worst in the world and here's why: if you have a QB that commits to you and stays committed and signs with you, that's great. But there are so many coaches - whether head coaches moving or coordinators that take different gigs - that go other places or teams that have bad seasons that around this time of year, there will always be QBs back on the market. Of course it's a time crunch and you have to make your pitch pretty quick. But look at the QBs all of a sudden available: McIvor, Jaden Johnson, Sam Howell, etc. Now I say this not to excuse the Richts. They should not have put all their eggs in the Michael Johnson basket. But it's never the end of the world that early based off of a bunch of different factors.

Too many variables and risk. Top QBs like to commit early. Find your guy and lock him asap. If he's really committed, he will help recruit.

If you are open to 2 guys, then keep an open mind and take your time. Maybe you'll get lucky and find a later bloomer or have a guy fall in your lap.

We have 0 QB's committed... We have a QB who will be a RS Soph next year who hasn't shown a whole lot with a O-line that's freaking horrible...
We have 2 backups at this point, one of which in Weldon who might bolt after the season which would leave us 2 scholly QB's.... That is a recipe for disaster. And did I mention we now have 0 OL commits as well..... We are in a really bad spot right now and realistically it can get a lot worse real fast...

We are supposed to be over the cloud. Seems like it's still in Coral Gables and not going anywhere soon. Smh!!! Al Folden had us in a better spot with the cloud looming. Richt has no excuse. Fire his *** now!!!

Once we get the mindset again of signing (2) QB's every single year things will remain the same, why we don't learn from history is AMAZING to me , Now we're stuck searching for anybody who's a QB that's decent .

While in the passed during Jimmy's tenure never had this issue.

The recruiting is no different than the play calling because of arrogance. When you just "know" you are the smartest guy in the room, you tend to do things with no contingency. As mentioned by others, all-in on Johnson wasn't smart, but what's worse is knowing early that you were out with Johnson and that Perry, Weldon, and Williams are literally all **** near the same year football-wise, and still having no urgency in QB recruiting knowing of the 3, 1 won't play and one will transfer. Now, just like Golden, he is chasing everyone else recruits last minute looking amateurish.

The only way to come back from this debacle of a 3 yrs is to make a big splash in OC hire. Anything short of that will set the program back even further because now defensive recruits are going to look at playing in Manny's D as a wasted effort.

I am mixed on this. Feeling there should be a recruit in there. I don't think it would help next year or even the year after. So maybe in the long run if we hit on next year it doesn't matter. Just feels like a safer bet to just have one.

Then on the other side it seems to be the opinion of many people that this class is really bad for QBs. So at that point are we just taking a bad QB to have one? Then we aren't going to win and just have a fuller QB room with someone that if they came in we would lose anyway.

I do think it is time for a new QB and OL coach. From my understanding all those position coaches are on year contracts and then they get renewed at the end of the season versus getting fired. Not sure if either of those positions will change though. Yeah, its not ideal but nothing I can do about it. So I am just going to hope this year was an anomaly and things keep improving like they were before. Though really the biggest things holding back this team is first the QB play and second the oline.

It seems we have difficulty finding a QB that can remember 5 plays and doesn’t throw the ball like he has Down syndrome.
