The "SpartanDaws" were quick, aggressive and had some swag that the early 90s Miami Hurricanes would be proud of, CBS Sports senior college football columnist Dennis Dodd wrote this week in a terrific piece, featuring a sit-down with Narduzzi.
"It's really the same style of defense," Narduzzi told Dodd, "back when Tommy Tuberville was defensive coordinator with (Warren) Sapp and all those guys.
"It's funny you should say that ..."
Narduzzi was a young grad assistant at Miami of Ohio when he went on a coaching retreat to South Florida.
"Miami of Ohio visited Miami," Narduzzi said to Dodd of a long ago coaching retreat. "That's really where we got the defense from. I've been running the same defense since then — 4-3."
All defense, No offense. That was us 2003 - 2007. Would love that have that D back, but the offense was awful at times. It's the opposite of what we have now.
