This has obviously been mentioned in various forms over the past week but I thought now that the craziness of the season has died down it would be worth discussing. We are all aware of the problems recruiting in Dade County presents. We have ****** schools (though they are better than they were 10 years ago), underpaid coaches that may or may not have agendas, street agents and "hangers on" that attach themselves to programs and kids, etc. We all know this. These problems are not new. But in my view it comes with the territory down here. If you can effectively navigate all the nonsense that goes on down here we still have the best talent in the country. Championship level talent. A lot of people have suggested we move on from certain schools or the County altogether. I dont think thats wise, and I dont think Golden thinks so either. I see the Coley and Cristobal hires as Golden "doubling down" on Dade County recruiting. He knows that its a gamble and you can get burned but he also sees the upside if you can get it right. So while we may have lost a few this time around, I'm glad that it looks like we aren't retreating into broward and the Northeast, etc.

it would be suicide to abandon Dade, given the annual crop of studs that sprout. whoever coaches at UM simply has to navigate the bull****, as it's part of the job. and golden clearly understands the drama now, and will adjust accordingly.

Agreed on all account, but I dont think we should stroke Harris' and Luke's egos or pander to their bull****.

and one more thought. Dillard (in Broward Co.) has a long history of top-notch recruits, most of whom ended up at Auburn. i don't think we ever got one. i think people tended to blame it on academic issues.

Whatever the reason, i hope BTW does not become Dillard. there are just too many studs coming out of there, and it's a local (and historical) feeder school. Golden has to keep working on the relationships over there, or figure out a way to work around the impediments at the school and deal directly with the kids and their families.

I agree, but remember...for every Kirk/Thomas diva, there is a Carter/Burns type who bleeds O&G. Golden's challenge is to weed the Dade pretenders from the contenders.
