A question( as serious as cancer), is this the best depth Miami has had an OLine since about the early 2000's? when you had serviceable back-ups like Ed Wilkens and Joe McGrath coming off the bench and wouldn't kill you.

I just remember as too many Jon St. Pierre's were recruited, that around the mid-2000's, when a guard went down, they couldn't just plug in a back-up guard. They'd have to literally move 3 or 4 guys to then patch together a starting unit. That said right there you didn't have a real two-deep but maybe just 6 or 7 guys you thought were good enough to play.

Well, this year, I see the best Oline UM has had( potentially) since 2002 and some young back-ups that look like they have a real future.

And behind them kids like Darling and the younger McDermott coming in....

I'd go further and say it has potential to be the best group in the history of the program. Part of the reason is the top level talent. But another major reason is the depth.

This should be the best OL in the history of Miami football. The team might not be as good as the 2001 Unit.... but the talent and depth are there on the OL. You have a guy like FLowers who might not even start.... GTFOOH.

When your sixth guy is Bunche, Flowers, or Feliciano you are in great shape. It's hard to see Bunche beating out Flowers at LT, so I'd guess it's really a battle between Feliciano and Bunche at guard.

I like Bunche off the bench as a 6th Starter of sorts, filling any injury or substitution at Guard or Tackle. It gets a little fuzzy after him him though, not sure what depth we are referring to. Wheeler can get the job done in a pinch at center, then we have Isadora who maybe can hold it down for a bit as well. Then.....Wells Gadbois Knighton and Sonny. Don't want to see any of those guys in a close game. So not sure where this illusion of depth comes from, we are right about where most teams are except that the top of the the depth chart is very strong across the board.

Yessir. I'd go so far as to say when your 8th guy is a guy with NFL potential and has some time under his belt already, you're doing it right. They're going to have a **** of a time keeping Danny Isidora off the field.

The best part of it all? We have the best incoming OL class in the country.

Like I mentioned in a RB thread, RB recruits should be sleeping overnight outside the Hecht, living in tents like some dudes waiting for concert tickets, as they try desperately to convince Golden to give them a slot.

And to add on to this...This will make sure that a "Brandon Washington" situation never happens again. Taking a 1st team all-ACC player and switching him to another position that he is not comfortable at because of lack of depth. Smh. Thank God for that.

Agree. 100000 with the rbs. Some of these s fla guys are being told some bad info

In the very least coach Golden agrees with the OL being the strength of the team. This is partly the reason I have little worries about the RB situation. The holes should be there for the RB's to find daylight. That old cliche is true, you win up front!

I read a couple of weeks ago that Coach Coley would be implementing an un-balanced line from time to time. Personally, I'd love to see it more. Bring in Bunche as the 6th and its scary good!

Love our Oline, and I think the quality of play has gotten better with the quality of guys we have bought in. Then you look at the recruiting class... Wow.

Still there is room for improvement, we were a really good pass blocking team but we seemed to struggle to run against the better quality defenses, soo much so that Fisch didnt even try to run the ball against Notre Dame front 7 (As good as ND was, you think Bama said well their just too good, lets no try to run.. Nope)

We have to be able to push people off the ball even in short yardage situations. I watch a team like Stanford basically shovel DLineman off their spot and open holes, those guys seem to have that engine running and also bring in top talent along the lines to replace guys going to the league.

Our engine seems to be just starting though, lets see if we take that next step and pound teams to a pulp even when they stack the box

Maybe with the added strength this offseason we will see more running at people.

Here is to hoping. Our 99, 00, and 01 teams had a smash mouth mentality on the front line and I hope we get back to it starting this year.

Agreed. The power running game was kinda helter skelter under Fisch. Will help this Defense tremendously.

Awesome group....when the same can be said about the Dline, this team will be ready to challenge for the national title!

smh. Get better, Danny.
