operating in the deficit ... apparently they really did have the best roster money could buy ... wonder if they break even the off national championship bump (student enrollment growth) etc.

still interesting as i'm not sure how many years of deficit one can take in athletics

These athletic departments pay the university for things like the scholarships its athletes use, so I think this number might be misleading.

Told you them boys were paying big though even if it’s true or not. To think we outbid them for JS and he still chose them is severe cope.
 
NIL payments would not be considered part of the athletic department budget anyway. Remember, the school is not paying the players. A collective is.

For those saying it's for taxes, aren't colleges tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code? If so, it would appear to have no more do with optics and taxes.

It wasn't the football program that cost them money, it's paying for all the non-profitable sports football has to support
