Al Golden's quote from the Herald today............

"I keep getting the questions 'Are you going to go younger now that you lost a couple' No. We're not doing that. We're going to honor these seniors and push them to the finish line and help them do something they haven't done. They haven't been to a bowl game the last two years. We have to finish off strong and send them off strong."

Good lawd.. Al gets its huh!!!!??!! We are in trouble!

He's not gonna say publicly that he's giving up on the season. Count the snaps the seniors play the next two weeks.
 
Im down to bash the staff just like the rest of us on this site, but WTF was he supposed to say???????
 
If he knew what was best for him he'd stop doing interviews for a little while. I've learned one thing about losing... there's nothing you can say to the media to make anyone happen (except the words "fired").

I like Golden... but his interviews are getting old.

Surprised and disappointed by Al's inability to finese his way through serious, though not ridiculously hard questions. Thought he was better than this. Real simple: "Hey, we got a great group of seniors and we want to finish the season out strong for them, get them to the bowl game that they deserve and have missed out on the last two years - but, as we've said from the first day of practice, it continues to be competition out here and we're going to play the best players. Playing time isn't given - it is earned.''

that's basically what he said, you just wanted him to add the word "competition" in there.
 
I'd play the seniors also. You think bringing in a freshman against UVA is really going to help us next year?
 
You play whoever gives you the best chance to win the game whether it's a senior or freshman.

This is being blown out of proportion... Granted isn't everything on here?

What is he supposed to say? "Yeah we're gonna have the seniors grab some pine and they can watch their careers end from the sideline. I don't think they are good anyways, and I like my recruits more anyway so I'm gonna have them all start now"

I think Al has to do this. When he first took this gig he needed some of these kids to buy into his system. The ones that did should be rewarded. And **** its senior day. It's their day.


Now I'd be totally cool with Al mixing it up for the game at Pitt.
 
I read that answer to mean he believes the seniors still give them the best chance to win as opposed to playing younger guys just to get the experience. /shrug

LOL Exactly. WTF is he going to say, "yeah Im benching all our JAG seniors on SENIOR Day, in front of their friends and families".

I think he's already said that some of the younger guys are going to start seeing more PT.
