South's No. 11 Offensive Guard, Cody Bowes, De-Commits From West Virginia - Football Recruiting - Scout

Product of Miami (Fla.) Southridge that's highlighted as the South's 11th-ranked offensive guard, has opted to take a step back and de-commit from the West Virginia Mountaineers, who welcomed him into the fold back in late June.

"I'm just getting interest from a lot of other schools right now," Bowes told Scout. "It was something I've been thinking about, but I've just been getting a lot of big interest lately, so I'm just seeing where it takes me.
"West Virginia is still definitely in my top five."

The 6-foot-5, 280-pound Bowes continues to play the waiting game in regards to some business he had to take care of in the classroom, but says a trio of suitors, including West Virginia, are sitting comfortably on his official visit radar.

"I will know after I get my test scores back, I think this week or next week," Bowes said when asked about official visit dates. "Probably Louisville, Syracuse and West Virginia (will receive official visits)."

He hasn't been recruited by us at all (I don't think) & he doesn't have an offer, but with our dire need for lineman do you guys think we should make a late push for him?

He plays both G & T, but projects best at Guard...

I was just seeing what y'all might think about him, because he's a kid from Ridge & maybe some of y'all know more about him.

Also, what T's are we actually going to land to close this class out? Herbert is a Guard too & many of y'all wanted him, would you take Dykstra over this kid?

Herbert plays Tackle, but I don't think he will on the next level... Especially at Michigan.

He has the athleticism for it. Doesnt have that power that harabaugh likes from is interior linemen.

I still think michigan will push him out. Already have 4 commited and have 5 highly rated guys that many believe they lead for all of them.

I hope you're right bro... Because he's recently said he's 100% locked in with them after visiting on the 22nd.
I still don't think we'll get him, but if he is pushed out we definitely need to snag him.

I didn't think he was a take for Miami to begin with, but with grade problems he's a definite no. Would be a great fit at a school like USF (my alma mater). Good size, still somewhat of a project but I like his potential. Just don't think we have the time or the depth to spend a scholly on a project. Glad he switched over to football though. He was an early bloomer. Got up to like 6'2 real early and played PF for a while and just never really grew much and just didn't have the skill set to play G. Still a REALLY good basketball player. Just too much of a tweener to play big. More kids should make the transition. 6'4/6'5 is not great for a CBB big man but is ideal for football. Just gotta let go of those hoop dreams.
