***Official cause for concern thread***

Since I'm "not negative enough" I'll go first. I want to see the offense open up with Fisch a little more, not as much dinking and dunking. Safety play..Telemaque is not the answer IMO. Lack of a consistent run game...

Open up more? We have a new starting QB, new starting wide receivers, and new starting running back combined with one of the most underperforming units of last year (OL) on offense.

The biggest area of concern, IMO, is the entire defense. We shortened games last year by running the ball, limiting turnovers with safe passes, etc... but the defense was generally awful.

#1: No game-proven impact players on offense - somebody will step up but we don't know who. I'm counting on Dorsett to be one of them.
#2: No one knows for sure what is going on with Seantrel
#3: Where will our pass rush come from?

Agree big time with #3. I think Shayon Green will have a good year

I'm concerned about our DE play. Chick will be solid but then who?

Green needs to stay healthy
Cain and McCord are both smaller rush DEs (one inexperience at DE, the other a FR)
Hoillet looks like he put on weight but still a Fr
Hamilton coming off a knee injury and a Fr
Rico seems to be a non-factor right now
O'Donnell apparently isn't ready yet either

Obviously I'm ****** myself over our S play.

I'd say offense. Last season, I did not see the same progress from offense as defense did. It was really painful to watch the offense in the last two games (vs USF & BC). The offense still struggled in the spring game. So far most positives in practice are from the defense side. Specifically, I am more concerned about the OL and QB play

Generally awful? They weren't great, but ****...they kept teams out of the end zone. Ton of areas to improve in, but let's be fair here.

We have to be concerned everywhere. Sad to say but there are many reasons to be worried about both our defense and offense. Very much inexperienced on O, and our D, as much as we managed to keep teams from scoring last year, wasn't as stout as it would need to be if we want to reach a level of greatness again... However lots of unproven players could also mean lots of nice surprises... Let's hope everything turns out that way

I think the offseason reliably allows people to forget what they saw at the end of the year. At the end of last year, we saw a team that really wasn't good--virtually no experienced talent and what we had of that decided to bail in many cases. I thought we were 3 years away from being a good team. Then you basically get 7 months where you have the ability to essentially hear unopposed "good news" about most players. Every freshman who you've never seen play a college opponent in a real game is either good or carries the potential to be good. All these guys who stunk at the end of last year have improved or weren't that bad. The other guys who the team REALLY needed (Spence, Miller, Vernon) are easily replaceable. We're bigger and stronger than ever before. It goes on and it happens most years. I just can't see it. I'd like to think that I know what we have in Morris. I think Morris will be pretty erratic but pretty decent overall. I am worried about every single other unit on the team (which obviously influences the whole Morris thing). Nobody can convince me that we really know that we're good anywhere else. Everywhere else I'd either expect to struggle or am left pinning my hopes on some guys who haven't yet done much.

Last I LAID EYES on the team competitively I thought we were three years away. Until I have the ability to lay eyes on them competitively again, I'd stick by that. I hope they are competitive and play hard and if so I'll take 6 wins or whatever it is. But I doubt we'll be good.

1. Depth Again at DL
2. Freshman hitting the wall
3. early road schedule
4. Game toughness
5. Can Morris actually be a leader, mentally and physically..
6. can they work this hard, blood sweat and tears and lose and handle that....( MENTAL )...last few years this team could not handle losing at all..

Our run defense and pass rush have been non existent. Hope we can improve it, if not all the positive stuff we've been hearing will mean nothing.

Also hopefully these guys can maintain the weight once the season starts.

Not sure if this thread was really needed. Pretty sure we know the problems facing this team. But if we wish to complain...
