I understand we have some talent at WR and TE, but I think it's safe to say with QB being a huge question mark as is pass protection we should put this season on the run game and let Duke and Yearby chew up chunks of real estate. Doesn't matter if it's Heaps or Kaaya at QB our major advantage in nearly every game is going to to be Duke, and I think Yearby can have a big impact as the 2nd back. We also have Chocolate and Gus as intriguing big back options.

I also feel like this OL is better suited for run blocking, especially the power run game but will Coley deviate from his long developing zone and stretch runs to allow the line to put a hat on a hat and take control of the game? That's to be determined but I truly hope we see us rely more on the run game this year. Being able to run will take the pressure off whomever the QB is and will allow us to keep the defense on the sideline more this season which can only improve things.

How our Duke and yearby going to chew up chunks of real estate with a "Question Mark" OL? Last year, with a supposedly elite OL, we couldn't get a yard when we needed to against teams with winning records.

Just saying, it's not like it's some insurance option. "Well, our OL is weak, better just let Duke and Yearby kill it on the ground". That sounds great. Matter of fact, if our OL is not a big dissapointment again this season, how about we just let Duke and yearby kill it on the ground anyway? :)

This guy says since our OL is a "question mark" James Coley should not get the rock to Duke Johnson and Joe Yearby, I guess?

I feel they are more of a question mark in pass protection, we have some guys that an run block and that's why I would rely on the run game a lot more than we have in a long time.

I'm pretty sure the offensive philosophy is the same as its always been..........score more points than the other team. but what do i know, I'm 8 beers in....

Im not generally one to hate on schemes, every coach has a preference and likes certain things. We need to chill on the stretch plays tho. We can zone block another run, it don't always need to be a stretch lol

60/40 split would be nice run/pass. If you were the OC and had the talent at WR/TE we have, would you??? I just don't want to see predictable play calling. That will be governed by how good our QB is. Lots of questions going into this season.

...with Gus Edwards and Dallas Crawford, maybe.

Duke and Yearby have the athleticism and burst to do damage on stretch runs, even with less than stellar blocking.

When our OL was bad, like the loaded OL last year, "giving the ball to Duke" was great. Except when teams like FAU and Charlston Southern knocked him into the stands (WF was the only game he finished on his feet last year, I recall), and except when we played teams with winning records, where it was "stuffed behind the LOS City".

And LOL if you think that IF our OL plays average (a real strecth, condidering Kehoe's recent history) that somehow Heaps, after 5 years of abject HORRIBLE QB play, is gonna somehow "distribute the ball to our playmakers", you are crazy. They will stuff Duke at the LOS because we have no QB, just like they did last year.

Oh, and we have no OC. There was a reason Free Shoes told Coley he would NEVER call a play in his career there. Last year was obvious. Our playcalling would be better if it was "pick an OC for the game from the WEZ". They won an NC and outrecruited us like we were foster kids, and their offense and QB play has NEVER been better than since they had the miracle of getting Coley out of there. Morris got worse, if that is even possible, under Coley, and we were eaten alive in recruiting S FL. Nice pickup, Coley was.

As much as your doom and gloom schtick gets old and stale, I have to admit that Coley has much to prove in terms of his ability to gameplan and call a game. With the embarrassment of riches that he has at his disposal, this better be a potent offense. I don't want any excuses about the QB situation either.

In all fairness to Coley however, Morris was a gimp last year. Coley has also been very dynamic on the recruiting trail lately after a somewhat lackluster start.
