Felt like we used Hagens as a lead blocker a lot more, and I don't remember seeing us pulling guards that much in a while. Was a nice chance of pace.

It also appears Coley's starting to really infuse his influence with the pistol stuff.

With Coley coming on, these 4 wideouts are a son of a ***** to cover.

Crawford runs hard as ****.

Edwards does not for a guy his size. He needs to finish those runs with more violence. He'll figure out how powerful he is eventually.

Wheeler did well.

Considering if our starters were in the entire game we would've hung 100 on them, I think we looked ok.

Wheeler is an obvious upgrade over an injured McDermott. Nice to see him step up while Shane gets healthy.

I think with all the weapons we have it was going to take some time to really develop an identity. As good as our offense was at times last year they really did just play like their pants were on fire. If we want to continue to help our D we need to control the clock while still having that big play ability.

Stacey is going to be a take changer moving forward. Waters, Hurns, Dorsett, and Scott coming back are a beastly group but Coley has no limits on what he can do.

Morris started looking underneath more in this game and I don't think there's a secondary in the country that can keep up with us if Morris figures out when to check down and when to go for it, like he did yesterday. Those Hagans plays, Hurns over the middle...those are difference makers in big games. Moving the chains.

Moar t ends. Agree. I thought o would struggle or at least punt before the 2nd team was in the game. Sf defense was ranked 23 before sat. It was their o that sucked.

I still feel our short yardage game is sub par.

Coach Coley has gotten off to great starts in the first few series in games with playcalling and then fell off.. Yesterday it felt like it was on point for the whole game. Just like the players developing it's nice to see our OC improving as well.

As usual Jhall, you are right on the money with this post. I know you've had a man crush on S. Coley since the beginning. I expected some situational contributions from him this year but he is waaaaaaay ahead of those expectations. He needs to get stronger and tougher but wow he is dynamic! Scott IMO is key to making this group as a whole dynamic. I think he may be our 2nd best receiver. Need to see more of him to be sure but hope he comes back strong. Also Malcolm looks to be getting there as well. Future is bright my Erie brother!

Definitely need Hagens in there on short yardage pickups cause I still not impressed with run blocking.

It was great seeing Morris hit the underneath stuff and target the middle of the field.

On the negative side, we still cannot get a push in short yardage situations, even against lower tier opponents. That is going to bite us in the *** against tougher defenses. It is really inexcusable that we continue to have this issue, where our running backs need to make two defenders miss before they even reach the line of scrimmage.

I really was impressed w/ James Coley's offense against USF....

The 4 wide sets was a new look and I think I saw a 2 back set on one play as well. There are so many different plays you can run out of both of these formations and I think we are still just beginning to scratch the surface w/ this offense.

We could run those drags and outs all day long if we wanted. And seeing Hagan's out there a lot was refreshing. Remember the difference in Miller when Hagans was healthy?

This offense should improve greatly throughout this year as the level of familiarity in game situations continues to grow...

I expect to be lighting teams up in November and especially in the bowl game as the extra practice time will help the team greatly with the youngsters and as the players grow and develop, not to mention coley is a sharp guy with a lot of weapons......maybe I'm greedy.....

I liked that we were finally attacking the middle of the field. That seems to play into Morris's strength much more so than those stupid horizontal WR screens to nowhere.

loved what I saw overall, would just like to see the RB's featured more in the passing game.
