# of 4* and 5* on each CFP team

2018 is our best class since 2002.

In 2008 we had sixteen 4 and 5 stars, but we also had sixteen 3 stars. At 13 current 4 and 5 star players, it's the most since 2008, and the second most since 2002.

In terms of percentage it is currently the highest since websites started keeping track at 68.4%. 2002 was 68%

its only going to get higher

As long as at least 80% of our kids are from sofla and fla were good. Can anyone track how high 3 start sofla recruits have performed in the last 3 years. Every time I watch another team there is always some sofla kid ballin out and leading a team at something

Yeah, and he came out of HS a 4* or 5. I promise you that loading up on 3* SFLA kids will make us good, but if we want to be great we need the higher ranked kids.

That's actually an amazing reflection on what the coaching staff has done here. Wisconsin too.

Is it though? I hear repeatedly that Florida 3 stars are 4 and 5 stars everywhere else.

Idk man we've been sending alot of kids to the NFL and we havent been a top 5 recruiting team the past decade

Stars matter because you get the genetic freaks but its something to have great bodies with good coaching and techenique that will also work

Most of our draft picks haven't been 1st rounders or even 2nd rounders though.

For all those that think stars don't matter. Check out how many of our 4/5 star guys are the main contributors on this team. Our entire OL consists of 4 stars apart from our C. Starting WRs (should be noted that Brax was a 4 star on Rivals and ESPN) are all 4 stars. RBs are 4 stars. Our top DEs are 4/5 stars. 2/3s our starting LBs are 4 stars. Our top safety is a 4 star. Our dawg at nickel is a 4 star. Malek Young was Army AA despite being rated a 3 star.

We struck gold with our two monster DTs that came in severely underrated...that's for sure. However, it should be noted that Norton was a 4 star rated on ESPN as an OL and 247 as well...not the composite. He was also committed to FSU at one point, glad we snagged him)

14 class
Chad Thomas - stud DE
McDermott - Starting LT
Trevor Darling - Starting LG
Moten - 2 deep DT
Trent Harris - stud DE

15 class
Mark Walton - Stud RB prior to injury
Quan Johnson - Stud safety AA status
Tyree St Louis - Stud RT - One of best pass blocking tackles in nation

16 class
Shaq Quarterman - Stud MLB
Ahmmon Richards - Stud WR
Joe Jackson - Stud DE
Travis Homer - Stud RB
Zach Mcloud - Starting LB
Pat Bethel - 2 deep DT

17 class
Jeff Thomas - 2 deep stud WR
Navaughn Donaldson - Starting RG
Trajan Bandy - Stud CB starting nickel
Deejay Dallas - 2 deep RB/wildcat stud
Jonathan Garvin - Big contributor in many games
Mike Harley - Big contributor early in season
Jhavonte Dean - Big minutes

BY FAR the biggest outlier is RJ Mcintosh!! I can't say enough about this man. This team does not move without Mcintosh in the middle. The kid was a consensus 3 star recruit, and proved everyone wrong. GO MAKE YOUR $$ SATURDAY NIGHT MAC!!! Crush Clemson's big rushing attack, penetrate and wreak havoc for us big boy...solidify yourself as that 1st rounder we know you are.

As it stands right now, as of this moment, the 2017 and 2018 classes combined is 53% 4 and 5 star players.

The 2018 class alone is 68% 4 and 5 star, with a few underrated guys (Ivey, Wiggins, maybe even J Campbell) with a kicker and full back (those guys are never 4 stars).

Lastly, we are about to add about 4 to 6 more 4-5 star guys to this class. Take out Baxa and Realus from the percentage because they are both #1 at their position but their positions rarely get 4 stars and we add the guys we are probably going to add, we are looking at a 4-5 star percentage around 78-83%.

Who are the 4-6 guys left that you anticipate coming?

Briggs
Chatfield
Jarren

Who else?

Chatfield, Jarren, Briggs, Tyson Cambell, Surtain is at least a longshot. Those are the obvious ones.

This has been the case historically. Miami usually has less of a percentage of 4* and 5* players than some of these other powerhouse teams. We are very low right now however.

Load me up with 3* playmakers from south florida, some 4* and 5* kids too, and watch the championships roll in. We can't let all the Campbell's, Nesta's, and Popes slip out either.

Golden wasn't even getting the prime 3* kids from south florida either. The Noles and Gators were killing him there too. Golden was left with the less athletic kids.

People ignore all those kids and focus on the 2-3 lower ranked guys who play above their ranking. Nothing wrong with taking lower ranked guys you really believe in, but you still need to be taking 50% blue chip guys if you want to be consistently great.

And for those talking about development and coaching, you need those too. It's not enough to have some, teams that win multiple NCs have all the pieces. We've got the coaches and they're developing the talent, now we need more talent for them to work with.

i'm not starting a star ***** debate here so don't bother, just saw Pick six previews post this on twitter and thought it was interesting

note where UGA is (thanks to Richt)

and where we are.

Clemson: 40
Auburn: 45
Oklahoma: 37
Wisconsin: 6
Alabama: 69
UGA: 54
Miami: 25
Ohio State: 63

future looks bright with only more talent comin'

We have 14 committed right now, and we will lose around 7 to graduation and to declaring early.

Assuming we get a couple more to close out this class, we'll be playing at around 35 next season.

407 great post ---- I always want to see who we sign but more interested in who actually gets on campus and makes it to the first game -- we had some pretty strong classes get hurt by guys not making grades or buying guns

Miami should have more than 25, because we all know a lot of our player's ratings and stars were dropped after they committed to Miami!!! BUT this just shows the type of recruits our Canes signing.. And now CMR and staff have to work with the talent they have, BUT it is definitely getting better as the years past!! Looking at UGA, ppl can say what they want BUT CMR has a lot to do with that number being 54...

16 out of the 25 are either true freshman or true sophomore!!

No wonder Urban's ****ed about missing out on the Bowl Series...

I mean for Ohio state to have 44 more 5* and 4* than us is absurd.

Sure some 3* should be 4* and some 4* are overrated and should be 3* but that is a clear divide and it's why we Lost to Clemson (along with vennables)

Give richt two years to double this number and we will be looking pretty

This is why we were squeaking by average teams and why the big boys blow out Average teams. Coaching comes into play more so when talent is even
