Notre Dame to the ACC....except for football

the 5 games per year is pretty good, actually (although it could easily just be Duke, Wake, UVA,MD, and BC each year). If this helps the ACC get a more competitive TV contract, which we desparately need, then I have no complaints.

Not in the ACC for football, but they will play 5 football games against ACC teams annually. This makes zero sense, it just sounds like a way for them to never lose their conference. They aren't special and shouldn't be treated as such.

they increased the exit fees to three times the annual operating budget. That way they cant up and leave so easy.

Notre Dame still wants schedule flexibility for football which is why they won't commit to full membership

Tell them to **** themselves then.

It will be interesting to see how the 5 games works out. I'd imagine there would be some kind of rotation involved, but how does it impact the ACC schedules of the current members?

At the end of the day its a better deal with them than the Big East had. Additionally, if the ACC gets TV rights for ND's ACC games it will help bolster our TV deal to the point we wont have to worry about FSU/Clemson leaving. But I feel it hurts the brand. The SEC would never allow partial members or cave in to a team that hasn't been relevant in 20 years.

They also have apparently guaranteed that each team will play them once every 3 years. I wonder if it is possible to work it out where we play them every year and then the other 4 games rotate? It would be pretty awesome to have them back on the schedule every year, as well as FSU...all we would have left is to get the Gators back.

This is great news and they also need to guarantee that they must play home at home games no more of these neutral site games for ND.

Notre Dame will hold out as long as it makes economic sense. We would do the same thing if we wielded that kind of power nationally. You may hate them, but whomever says they are "nothing special" is being just plain foolish. I think they ultimately will join in football, it is a matter of when. For the ACC, it's a great move. They basically have them locked down for the future.

Exactly what I was thinking. The ACC has the inside track now for when they eventually join a conference full time; well, w/o seeing the terms of the deal, that is what I am assuming anyway.
