Take a close look at the distribution of players by position. Then take a close look at our roster distribution. Not only has Golden addresses the most glaring needs [DT, DE, TE & RB], but he is filling in for the future [Ol, WR & QB].

With this class we will finally be able to fill immediate needs, but also RS for the future. Even with a reduced class. Love the way he's managing the roster in the face of sanctions. Obviously, the man can not only recruit, but he's a great CEO, as well.

I agree re his roster management, but how can you draw the conclusion that this is not a great class over a month before signing day? And by what standard do you conclude that this is not a great class. If you consider the environment in which he is recruiting, including the tight scholarship numbers, I'd say the class is shaping up to be exactly what you say it is not - great.

Read his post again. He means it IS a great class. but it also is filling specific needs and managing the roster properly. You guys agree

He is saying it is a great class...but what makes it better is the way he addressed needs and is balancing the roster.

Edit: Oops already posted. Sorry.

I believe Golden's approach to recruiting is much like the NFL's roster management. Exactly how you stated in OP, fill in needs, buid for future. There are going to be alot of kids that we could of taken from all over the country, but i believe we are honing in on a certain skill set that best fits what we are wanting to do offensively(need compliment to duke, balanced TE) and defensively(taller DT's, bigger frame LB and DE). I believe that in the next 2-3 years, he will be on everyone's list of candidates for the NFL.

I am not sure why anyone would be surprised, it is obvious that AG has a plan. Part of that plan is roster management, here is a quote from Fisch"

This is from an article on rivals.

"Fisch also said that coach Golden already has a numbers game plan in place for the next several years of recruiting.

'Coach Golden lays out for us every spot, and what his plan is over the next four years," Fisch said. "So we know what numbers he wants (at each position) through 2013, 2014, 2015 and how it all fits in. He structures it and we fit it into that. So we know what we're looking for, how many guys we're going to bring in and what our plan is annually for the position.'"

Finish with:

Sandland
Collins
Bryant
Thomas
Kirkland
Grace
Bostwick
Coly

my head will explode. any other out of state studs would be gravy but not expecting any
