It’s likely a combination of “you’ll get on the field early” and “help be the class that turns it around”. People tend to fall for sales pitches when a coach is still new. I mean Golden got some good players to come here

It’s a bump year. So they are selling a vision. When they inevitably suffer on the field some of these guy will leave. They are still a national program so they have something to sell. Just won’t work right with the big dogs.
