Taggart hires Director of Recruiting, David Kelly for WR coach,
LMAO
Florida State has hired David Kelly as its wide receiver coach according to multiple reports.
Kelly, who joined new FSU coach Willie Taggart from Oregon, was brought in for what was expected to be an off-field role.
Kelly, a Union, South Carolina native, has coached all over the country at the college level. He's coached at Georgia, Georgia Tech, UCF, Stanford, LSU, and Duke, mainly as a wide receivers coach.
Kelly has been serving in an off-field capacity under Taggart since the 2015 season at USF. He joined Taggart in Oregon for the 2017 season as director of recruiting.
The spin:
Kelly was wide receivers coach and assistant head coach at UCF from 2007 until 2011. Kelly developed in-roads at inner-city Miami schools while also utilizing his familiarity as a former prep coach in Georgia (won a state title in 1993 at Dunwoody High) to secure commitments from notable prospects from across the Southeast (i.e Miami Central products Josh Reese and Jeff Godfrey). He was also a key recruiter for current NFL players such as safeties Kemal Ishmael and Clayton Geathers, offensive lineman Justin McCray, wide receiver Breshad Perriman (a former first-round draft pick), and pro-bowl cornerback A.J. Bouye.
