Nigel Bethel, Jr. to visit Miami January 26th weekend

yall sleep on this guy. wouldn't surprise me at all if he's just as good as Campbell in college if not better. he has the physical tools.

Campbell is 6-3 180 and ran a 10.4,special,special talent.

The knife cuts both ways. This kid was a walk-on at Bama and put may those 5 star speedsters on the bench.............his best 100m in high school was 11.04.

It does cut both ways......how many DBs in the NFL runa 10.41--100m? Richard Sherman does not nor do many other top NFL CBs.

It is a definite plus to have that speed but is it absolutely necessary to have blazing speed to be successful?
Minkah Fitzpatrick CB of Bama is 6-1/203 and is expected to be a top 10 pick in the 2018 NFL draft.
This year he took home the Chuck Bednarik Award and the Jim Thorpe Award.

His best high school 100- as a 12th grader---2015 Outdoor 12 10.86 PR May 16 Husdon County Championships

PASS.

This kid is not Miami material.

The offer reeks of desparation. This is Larry Hope level stuff.

This is an Al Golden camp special. Not only "no,"....but **** no.

Save the ship for next year. And don't **** up again. Maybe hire someone who can actually recruit.

The NFL is all about measurables. If Tyson Campbell doesn’t get a step faster (or slower) he will be drafted no later than 2nd round (see: DBs, UCONN).

10.41 (along with his sub-21 deuce) is definitely elite, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Bethel is as fast, or even faster, over 40 yards. Also, Greg’s a good coach and he put up a 10.20 30 years ago.

Losing Campbell would be devastating but this isn’t Golden. We have four real DBs in the boat, three of whom were recruited by everyone. Bethel would add some much needed speed and upside.

If a 6’1, 4.35 corner from Northwestern made the league, and we missed him, there would be **** to pay. Bethel’s traits are unique and highly valued at corner. If he’s coachable, bring him in and develop him.

10.86 is good for high school. I wouldn’t be surprised if he runs sub-4.50 - which is kind of what the NFL wants.

But, as you point out, you want fast football players, not fast guys attempting to play football. I’ll take an instinctive football player over a blazer playing football every day.

If this staff misses on TC and adds Bethel the board will be ****ed. If this staff misses on TC and doesn’t have a back up plan at all the board will freak. Add Bethel. Blades Jr (baller), D.J. Ivey (stud) get more snaps and maybe Gil is forced to get more time at DB.

And yet nobody else in America wants him, outside of UCF and Tulane.

If Bethel wanted to commit to Georgia, could he? If Bethel called up Nick Saban and tried to commit, would that commitment be accepted?

We can not be taking these 3-star leftovers.

Every other college coach in America did not miss on Bethel's evaluation. He just isn't good.

D, what's the deal with his lack of offers? You'd think he'd have more P5 offers.

Do you think Nick Saban doesn't know that this kid runs a 4.35 (if that time is even legit)?

Do you think Kirby Smart doesn't know about this kid.... who plays at the most visible and heavily recruited high school in America?

Not good enough for those guys but good enough for Miami, apparently.

Yet when it comes to offering Nick Bonitto or Xavier Peters, we don't have room. But we're gonna take this scrub that noone else wants? Yeah no thanks.

I suspect he has more than reported. He wasn’t really a camp/media guy.

The unknown is the mental makeup. Sometimes the Plan B guys have Plan B character. I don’t know anything about Bethel. But if he’s a good kid, it’s easy to see the upside. I saw him in person against Central and he stood out physically.

It’s painful

It’s not like we’re in a scholarship crunch so why not take a kid from a pipeline school with size/speed. And don’t give me any bull**** about saving it for next year cause that doesn’t work for us.

Rumph may not be a recruiter but let him develop this kid.
