After we skate, ****'s about to get real...

Barber shop story:

People who are close to him have told me he actually likes his neighborhood and where he lives in Miami. That was always a concern for me.

What's not to like about Liberty City?

:p

I still can't get over the fact he pulled in a top 10 class with "def pelaty" talk all over the airwaves. You know the negative recruiting had to be unreal.

Does that concern you because it comes off as him being comfortable with where he is and no aspirations to become an NFL coach? Or something along those lines?

It previously concerned me because there's a commonly held misconception amongst coaches out there that Miami is a horrible place to live and a raise a family. Whether it's true or not, it's something that plays a role for someone like Golden and his entire crew of coaches and staff. If he's happy where he lives and generally feels comfortable, he's more likely to stick here for the better part of this decade. I fully expect him to take the next big step upon legitimate success here, but I don't see that for at least another 3-5 years. In the alternative, if he (or his family) is unhappy and uncomfortable with the environment, you never know what job pops up that could lure him away.

We're at a crossroads in this program. If Golden, with his particular approach and plan, does not work out, we're going to be set back a considerable amount both in perception amongst other coaches and simply as a program. Sure, we'll always be in South Florida and that plays an incredible role in our advantage, but as we've seen, this is also the cherry-picking capital of College football.

Golden plans to stop that. It needs to work.

Nice read, I really like AG and the approach he is taking. I am waiting for the results on the field but given the developments of the past year, I think he did the best he could have done. The team, despite the loses, was much improved. They never seem to quit or give up. a yard here and there, an extra completion or 1st down and we would have easily had 8/9 wins. They did not get blown out and that says a lot to me.

I am hoping that AG can stick around 8-10 years. Set up another dynasty with multiple championships.

Good post. I agree that our program is in trouble, deep trouble if Golden bails or simply fails.

He has to be "the guy" or we done for a long long time.
