KC McDermott was a third team all ACC selection and one of three brothers who played college football. (Tyler McDermott-Colorado State, Shane McDermott-Miami) McDermott started 34 games in his career and started 13 at left tackle his senior year. This former high school All-American makes his way from Palm Beach Central High School in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Strengths
Length
Has good bend for his frame. Even though his frame allowed him to play left tackle his Senior year, could be utilized at the guard or even center position at the next level.
Versatility
Played both guard and tackle while at the University of Miami. The ability to play multiple position could raise his draft stock.
Hands
Plays with very strong hands and shows that once he latches onto a defender, he is hard to shed. Also shows hand quickness for guard position. Showed good hand placement while being an effective run blocker. Miami run game did improve once KC McDermott was implemented permanently at left tackle.
Weaknesses
Technique
Will often forgo his technique and resort to hugging and grabbing defenders. Will not align hips and feet to ideal locations and resort to holding. His angles up to the second level are inconsistent.
Not a True Tackle
Despite his height, he doesn't have the athleticism to kick-slide and play tackle. Arm Length also came into consideration. Did not contain the pure athleticism needed at tackle to deal with speed rushers.
Draft Potential: 3rd day pick
Rated By NFL.com as the 35th best guard in this upcoming draft. McDermott should be in an NFL training camp this upcoming season. Almost out of necessity, Miami had to utilize McDermott at left tackle in 2017. Idealistically, McDermott should have been a guard during his career at Miami and many NFL scouts have been quite crystal clear on the subject. Although McDermott did not show the ideal athleticism needed to play at tackle, he has enough quality tape there to bolster his versatility index. Hopefully an NFL team pops in the tape and sees the tenacity and passion from McDermott who simultaneously benefited by remaining healthy his senior year. A good run blocker and a good dude. McDermott will always be a legend for telling Urban Meyer to pound sand coming out of high school. (That is my version anyways)
