A few things..

-Wasn't Andy Crosland money in the bank?( uh, ok...)

- Miss our games on CBS, got national exposure back then, games were regionalized like they were on ABC and that theme song still gets me excited

- Regarding Kenny Kelly, how does UM do with him under center in 2000 and 2001? Honestly, we were better off with Ken Dorsey in my opinion. I was told KK simply wasn't that committed to football and not a student of the game. QB is the one position, above any other, where you can't be a part-time participant. He was too hit or miss for my liking

- That being said, why did UM's offensive staff ever try more of the no-huddle, shotgun spread with KK, where he looked so comfortable in that comeback? That's one of my big problems I've had with the previous regimes that tried to fit square pegs to round holes, going from Kelly to Berlin, who simply weren't all that effective under center

- Going back, from the Hail Flutie, UM has delivered some real heartbreak vs BC at Chestnut Hill from the 97 double-OT game, this comeback and the Reed play in 2001.

As fantastic as KK looked in those clips, there's no doubt we were better off with Dorsey for the next two seasons. Kelly was more physically talented, but as alluded to, Dorsey was one of the smartest QBs I've seen in college. Given the plethora of talent we had to work with the next couple of years, I'll take the guy with a lesser arm and mobility but more smarts and feel for the game 10 times out of 10.

Re: the offensive staff, who knows. We've never really adapted to the talent we've had on offense. Even Chud. Yeah his offenses put up great numbers, but with the talent he had to work with, it would have been hard not to. You look at the way he handled some of the playcalling in 03 with Berlin and it just makes you scratch your head. Luckily I think we've finally got a guy in Fisch who will play to our strengths, rather than forcing the players we have to fit a specific system.
