From his game last week

He can move for somebody that big, but still needs to add a lot of weight.

Even if we do land him (I hope we do), he'll be a redshirt candidate based on his lack of bulk and technique. Not the immediate pass rush fix that fans might think he is.

Looking at Golden's recruiting and the type of defense he's trying to implement, it seems like he wants DEs who are already big, or DE/OLB hybrids that can rush the passer.

Williams seems to fall in the latter mold.

He seems really undersized, lets compare to a local product Paul James at Norland (first couple games):

Totally different players

Understood, but if we have limited ships, I rather work a local guy than a undersized guy who might not see the field in years, under swasey program. Oh and undersized guy plays in Louisiana...

Plus its good for discussion:o, as they play the same position

Agreed on the local aspect. Problem with James is grades and he is coming off of knee surgery

I really think we're recruiting him as a DE/OLB hybrid.

McCord and Hoilett seem to fit that mold, while Hamilton and O'Donnell (and perhaps Briscoe) are the bigger DEs who engage the tackles and control their gaps.
