New OL offer - 3 star Connor McLaughlin

I like this offer. Looks like he played at 245 last year and is skinny but has a big frame. His tape was better than I expected and looks like he has a mean streak. Looks like a typical Butch Barry offer, long, athletic, and lean as heck with a big frame for good weight.

Visited a bunch of big 10 schools like Iowa already. They know what to do as far as O-Line so I’ll take him
Take... big Iowa line-development fan... they take tall, high-twitch athletes and bulk them up...

High upside. Prototypical frame. Athletic.

Needs a lot of work technique wise. I like the offer though.

I like the change in philosophy of taking leaner athletic OL to develop. Unfortunately we are in a position where a kid like Zion might be forced to start early but once the numbers are there these are the kind of prospects you bring in and develop for a year or two.

Their film looks very similar. Lean athletic guys who can strike and are physical.

Agreed, some issues I see here are the early offers from UVA, Northwestern, and BC whom all are excellent schools an shows he is a good student which is a plus . Not to mention this youngman has offers from most of the IVY's, so it is a only a mature of time until Stanford offers at which point it's a wrap. Don't get it twisted I am a diehard cane, but if Stanford offers my kid a full ride for anything, we would be hard pressed to turn it down vs any school especially as a linemen.

His dad went to Wake Forest so you know education is major factor their house. McLaughlin has been very strategic with his recruitment this spring in avoiding camps, based on his 34ft PR shot put at a T&F meet last month, he has serious S&C work to do.

So it will be interesting to see what happens with his recruitment and if he makes it down for paradise camp. Where he will face better competition than he plays with Tampa Jesuit.

Go Canes

This dude's got potential. Frame, lower body, feet, coordination. Needs to add some power and weight, obviously. But, this is what a tackle prospect looks like. I'd rather develop this guy than take your average 4-star guard and try to play him at LT (there are exceptions, of course).

According to 247 Iowa offered in March 2016. But, I'm pretty sure they cooled on him and eventually it was noncommitable.
I cant account for what these sites say, and they are often inaccurate on this type of info, imo, because its not verifiable. My memory is that he did not have an opportunity to go to iowa when he committed to us, or when he signed with us.
