One thing that is really encouraging is the amount of Jersey kids and quality at that of them that we are getting. NJ is a hotbed of recruiting and Al is using his Temple ties up here. Bosco, St. Joes (Montvale), Bergen Catholic, St. Peters, Wayne Hills, etc. all develop very good talent. For example Cushing, the McCourty twins, Will Hill, etc. all have come from these schools. I think this is great, as often Notre Dame, Penn State, Rutgers, etc have done well in this area

Nothing to do w Al's temple ties. He was born and raised in central jersey and went to Red Bank Catholic (same hs as donnie brown). His brother is also chief of police in the area still.

And odds are the kids from Jersey have a grandmother in Boca the family can come crash with on game weekend. Double bonus!

Correct, or an Uncle Louie that spends most of his time at the track.

It's symbolic more than anything. To get back to the top we need to follow the old road map. South Florida first, rest of state next, and then go to CA, TX, LA, NJ for whatever else you need. I think we have probably added GA to that core group as well. NJ kids have always been a natural fit at UM, athletes are no different. It's why we do well, the kids fit well in the school, that helps a ton.

South Florida first. That's where you load up the plate with the big chunk of meatloaf. Or steak. Pot roast. Really whatever meat you feel like eating. Then, you start poking around the buffet table, looking for some accouterments. If you find some elite talent that isn't in the backyard, you swoop in. Scoop on a little AQM. Help yourself to a side of Beau Sandland. Really help round out the dish.

Yes dammit

The best thing about Jersey players is that they are very rarely projects. They receive the coaching that is necessary to compete early in their college careers. I don't hesitate to say that Jersey has some of the best when it comes to coaching high school football. They coach physicality first and let everything else fall into place after the guys get use to being physical on every snap. They teach technique and stress it. It's one of the reasons I'm so excited about AQM. Dude is not going to have a problem assimilating to a college practice whatsoever. Dude understands what it is to be physical and brings it whenever he steps on the field. Most Jersey kids who came from the programs mentioned above are the very same way.

This class will finish strong in Dade, but as of today our recruits breakdown like this:

Dade-2
FL-2
Corestates-6
Other states-3

I pretty much only pay attention to the state of Florida in recruiting. Historically, where do, say, the top 50 or so players from Jersey usually end up every year?

The top Jersey kids go all over the country. As you would expect though, and especially the kids from the north and the philly suburbs, tend to go to schools that aren't in the backwoods. Big Ten, UM, USC, etc. If a school like UCLA gets hot, NJ kids will start to go there. Actually the top kid in the state last year ended up there.

I have no info prior to this year, but I just went to Rivals top 30 in NJ...top 10 players are headed to...

#1 Ohio St.
#2 The U - AQM
#3 Penn St Pedos
#4 Penn St Pedos
#5 UNC
#6 The U - Olsen
#7 Rutgers
*8 Wisco
#9 Auburn
#10 UNC

Looking thru the rest of the list its just a mesh of all kinds of schools. Hunter Knighton is in the top 30 for us. The schools that pop up the most seem to be Penn St, UNC, and Rutgers...

The tri-counties should always be the foundation and focal point of every class.

Nice

NJ is good hopefully we get on the talent in the Hampton Roads, Virginia Area. Lot of great athletes down there as well.

It's not just about talent, kids have to fit as well. Some country boys are going to struggle fitting in at UM. Not all, but some will.
