Its not just state schools. Miami definitely benefits. Mario can now have a seminar or consultations within the law with recruits and their parents explaining the deals or prospective deals they would get if coming to miami. They can facilitate those deals, meaning help the kids get them and they are allowed to/required to offer financial literacy and consultation so kids dont get ripped off by shady entities offering them money. All those things were illegal by the school or staffs in florida before. Not just at state schools. As I understand it, the law primarily helps the state schools and their Collectives who can now legally broker deals for the athletes. Will be interesting to see if Miami now goes that route.
Yes understood. My point was that it helps the state schools immediately bc they already have collectives in place, not that it will preclude private schools. Miami likely was engaged and involved in the lobbying and influencing of the new law as well and will obviously benefit. Its not just state schools. Miami definitely benefits. Or in legal terms, what Alabama and others have been doing for the great part of forever. The Athletic’s instant analysis:
What this means for Florida schools
The state effectively repealed the restrictions on schools or coaches facilitating NIL deals. This allows schools in Florida to operate under rules more similar to schools in states with either no NIL law or a minimally restrictive NIL law. Previously, a school or coach helping a player get an NIL deal would have violated the law.
