Last month the Hurricanes dismissed Jon Semerene, who struggled last year as a kickoff specialist, after a DUI arrest.
In Sailer’s camp, Marquez reached kickoff distances of 82 yards and field goals up to 58. Marquez wrote in a personal statement on a recruiting website that he has hit from as long as 66 in practice.
