“I grew up a huge Miami fan so seeing that offer was an emotional time,” Newman said. “I started to tear up because I thought about all the people that told me I was never going to make it. I wasn’t as good in optimist football so getting that offer was doing something that people told me I couldn’t. My favorite school giving me an offer was like heaven coming down to me.”

THE FUTURE STAR! Newman is going to be a good one.
It is never too early to check out the stars of tomorrow. One prospect we had the opportunity to watch not only live but on film is Frank Newman of Miami Palmetto. The freshman defensive end/outside linebacker started for the Panthers this season. He is one of the top prospects in his class. With over three years before he graduates, Newman will be one of the more sought after recruits in Dade County. He has all the physical tools to be one of the best players at his position in Florida. ESS will break down Newman and show you some footage from his freshman season where he shined.
What we like about Newman: What is there not to like about Newman. He has nice size, speed and quickness. He brings a style of football to the field that very few freshmen usually display. He can play off the edge as an outside linebacker/defensive end or possibly move inside to the MIKE spot. He is versatile enough to make the transition from defensive end to linebacker. Newman plays well in space and can cover smaller backs and receivers if asked. He also can give you a pass rush off the edge. He is a disruptive defensive prospect that opposing teams will take notice of next year.
What he needs to work on: Newman just needs to get better. Many times you will see a talented freshman only to have them peak out before their senior season. Newman still has growth potential on and off the field. He has not even come close to his potential. You would also like to see him play with a little more consistency. He will make 2-3 plays in a row and then not do much on the next series. As he matures and becomes a better player we feel that Newman should limit that from happening.
Final Thoughts: Newman is the type of player who can end up a heavily recruited prospect. As he continues to get bigger and stronger, Newman stock should go up. His potential as we stated before is off the charts. He can end up being as good as he wants to be. Newman just needs to not let this hype get to his head and continue working hard so that there is no doubt that by the time his senior year rolls around everyone is still talking about him. Look for Newman to blow up this spring and throughout the summer as he attends camps and combines.
Personal note- i went to middle school and his freshman year in HS with him the kid is a man child jacked i mean as a 6th grader he could pass as a SR in HS. One of his biggest strengths is he was a world class wrestler, i think he quit but if he would have sticked with it he would have probably won states multiple times
